The Reds Thread Part 2: Rally time

Still no Yonder. Still no Frazier.

It appears less than likely that the Reds will make a trade with the Astros to get outfielder and leadoff hitter Michael Bourn.
According to a baseball source, Houston’s asking price was too high. However it is not known which players or prospects from the Reds the club was seeking.
The Reds and general manager Walt Jocketty remain buyers on the market ahead of Sunday’s 4 p.m. ET non-waivers Trade Deadline. They are also looking for players under club control beyond this season and Bourn was signed with the Astros through 2012.

If the Reds win tomorrow, they could be right back in the race by the end of next week. They should blow the Stros and Cubs out of the water. Unfortunately, hat is right and that will make Jock complacent

You have to have a good feel for your organization. Jock ands Dusty thought Edgar and Janish were better than Zach all year. They also refuse to admit Arroyo is the new Eric Milton and put LeCure in the rotation.

both seem to be not near as good as I thought.
Castellini is as good an owner as Cincinnati will ever have. He wants to win and is willing to spend right up to losing his ass to do it. I always love when fans want to spend 60 million dollars of someone else's money to make a team they invest nothing in win.

Exactly, if they want him to spend more, they need to continue going to games. The more revenue they create, the more money Bob C. can spend. I would love to see a 90 million dollar payroll in the near future. If you can't win with that, you are doing it wrong.

With the current contacted talent the Reds have in an awful division, if they can't at least do what the Twins have done the last 7 or 8 years they need to hang it up.

he maybe a good owner but he doesn't seem to know alot about baseball. If he truely wanted to win he could have made some moves in the offseason to make the team better like the cardinals and brewers did. everybody had to know gomes and rolen were not going to do well this year. the second half of last year they were terrible.
