The Rock is under attack!!!

Agreed. I love Knoxville it's where I grew up, but to say its nicer than Murfreesboro is just ignorant. Farragut is nicer than Murfreesboro, but Knoxville as a whole is not. Downtown is a dump.

When's the last time you went to downtown Knoxville?

Both Murfreesboro and MTSU are worthless.

Downtown Knoxville is the best part of the city.

What I've seen from Murfreesboro everytime I've visited it vast, soulless suburban sprawl. Same thing with Farragut.

Give me culture, history and a sense of uniquity over cookie-cutter strip malls and wanna-be McMansions anyday.

What do you consider "downtown" to be? Ruth Chris steakhouse? Neyland Stadium? You've obviously never been past Gay St. or to East Knoxville. Farragut is nicer than most areas in the state so you are probably just a hater. Or a hippie, since you consider it to be "soulless" whatever the hell than means.

And Memphis is the ******* of the state. You can have all your "soul" and hippie crap you want with that pitiful excuse for a city. It must be nice driving around with your windows locked nervously peering over your shoulders at redlights. Real charming.

What a dick. I live in Knoxville, simpleton.

No, Neyland Stadium is on campus, it is not downtown Knoxville.

Ruth's Chris could be considered downtown, but Gay Steet and the Old City are the real downtown areas.

Farragut and Murfreesboro are the same BS nouvaeu-riche, homogenous areas with no character. "Hey, I'm gonna drive my Toyota Landcruiser to the Mall then we're going to eat at one of the 10,000 chain restaurants around here. How does Applebee's sound?"

Boring.

Haha, didn't know. I just find it kind of bizarre

It is odd. For some reason Knoxville wants to yabber about both Murfreesboro and Memphis. And then, Nashville and Memphis are back and forth at each other. Chattanooga seems to stay out of the way.

Someone from Knoxville will have to tell you why they hate Murfreesboro. I really don't know the background there. I can take some guesses

I thought Farragut is a section of Knoxville. Is it a separate town now? If so, when did that happen. In the 80's, Farragut was a neighborhood...(I thought?)

I'm not sure if it's a different township (i.e. not sure if people address letters to Farragut instead of Knoxville), but it definitely is headed in that direction.

Farragut has it's own Chamber of Commerce. God knows why.

It's called business. You might want to explore more of Farragut. It has more than just Turkey Creek.

Yes, please tell me about business.

Look, I have nothing against Farragut to tell the truth. I have clients in Farragut and good friends who live there.

I just take umbrage at the statements like "Downtown=garbage, Farragut= only safe place in city and only worthwhile place to live". It's small minded.

It's also untrue. Cherokee and Bearden Hill are where the old money is.

Good lord, dude.

You're so full of **** that I have to assume you go to MTSU. It's a moron's UT, you know.

I'd also understand your argument if you were trying to flaunt the qualities of one of the nicer areas in the Nashville metropolitan area, but Murfreesboro? Hilarious.

I obviously aren't current on either these days. Does MTSU have more students than UT-Knoxville?

I'm going to regret this.

I lived in Murfreesboro for a couple of years. It's a college town. It's also a very nice place to live and it does have a small "downtown" or "old city" area, whatever you want to call it, which some local color.

I've lived in and around Knoxville most of my adult life, and Knoxville too is a nice place to live. Downtown Knoxville and the Old City has really come alive and is a very enjoyable place to live.

MTSU does have a larger population of students, and it's a fine university. Just like any other school, public or private, it does some things better than others.

Tennessee does have some excellent programs, and it's relationship and proximity to Oak Ridge has a lot to do with some of those. It also provides resources you can't get elsewhere in the country.

All this pointless, ignorant bickering is, well, pointless and ignorant. MTSU painted our rock. It was a bunch of kids having fun. In our eyes was it a little sad? Yes. Was it a much bigger deal to them than it was to us? Yes. Isn't the right path here to simply turn the tables in a similarly enjoyable manner as some have adjusted? I didn't attend MTSU or go on campus that often, but I'm sure they have something we can deface with out causing (much) property damage.

Well, no sh*t, but I didn't say anything about downtown, Cherokee or Bearden Hill. You just made a baseless statement of why Farragut needed a Chamber of Commerce. It's called business and money.

Anyone can pick any place apart with a fine tooth comb and find something they hate about a city. I could really care less. It's pointless, but a lot of people make blank statements about certain places with only going into certain areas.

Just slightly less.

Average in the 3.0 range. MTSU doesn't report specifics, but they only require a high school 2.7.

By comparison, 64% of UT students have above a 3.75 coming in.

About the only thing MTSU is good for is music, so I can understand why some of their kids would want to pretend to go to UT for an evening.

Farragut is technically part of Knoxville. Knoxville already has a Chamber of Commerce. Seems to undermine that. That's all, calm down.

I'm perfectly calm. I'm not in a pissing match about the finer areas of Knoxville and Murfreesboro. Both places have things I like and both places have things I don't like.

Different strokes.
