The Roger Stone Trial

What destroying the Democratic Party looks like under Trump after the 2019 elections:
  • The House was 241-194 Republican after the 2016 election. Today, it’s effectively 235-199 Democratic.
  • Republicans held a historic 33-16 advantage in governor’s seats after the 2016 election. Today, it’s 26-24.
  • Republicans had a 32-14 advantage in state legislatures controlled after 2016. Today, it’s 30-19. (Some legislatures are split, with one party controlling one chamber, and the other party in a majority in the other.)
  • The GOP had total control over the governance of 24 states, vs. seven for Democrats. Today, it’s a much-closer 22-14.
  • Republicans had an advantage of 57 percent to 42 percent in nationwide state legislative seats after 2016. Today, that 15-point edge is trimmed to five, 52-47.
So much winning you get tired of it, right? After 4 more years of Trump the left will be so destroyed it will be running everything.

Not sure why people think this situation is good for anyone.

Historically not bad for the incumbent party during a mid-term election.

What are the Vegas odds of a pardon by this afternoon?

I think this prop was who will be next. I think Stone at +275 is a pretty good bet. Trump knows Roger won't hold up in prison.

Person Odds at Bovada
Paul Manafort+175
Michael Flynn+220
Martha Stewart+250
Roger Stone+275
Suge Knight+350
Rudy Giuliani+550
Brendan Dassey+1000

High I would expect. Not sure when he will be pardoned but confident he will be and should be if this wacko leftist judge does what we think she will. Total disgrace for the DIMs as usual.

Latest House results confirm 2018 wasn't a blue wave. It was a blue tsunami. - CNNPolitics

This year's 8.6 point House popular vote win for the Democrats is the greatest on record for a minority party heading into an election. This dates all the way back to 1942, when the Clerk of the House started listing the House popular vote in its after-election statistics document. That is, the Democratic performance this year was better than the minority party's in the previous 38 elections.

Agree. Why would Trump NOT pardon Stone? Donald do wut he want!

Those prosecutors are. So either they are disavowing Barr, or the fix is in and Trump will pardon him immediately so they might as well give the appearance of independence.

Now the DOJ attorneys are saying the trial team did everything right. Pretty clear this was nothing more than Barr and Trump swooping in at the 11th hour.

If so, how can Barr continue in office? And how can Trump pardon such a criminal?

The only thing the article was measuring was total popular vote and Dem performance in midterms.

You said it was a normal midterm. My counterpoint: the data says it was literally the single most lopsided midterm ever in the records.

Your counterpoint: the article only talks about votes in the midterms. Say what?!

Did you prep Mike Bloomberg for last night's debate by any chance?

The only measure of midterms is seats lost or gained not total popular vote.

He's a pompous ass hat. I've said that before. Are pompous ass hats abnormal, because there seems to be plenty of them? Hell, I've even said he shouldn't have been elected, but we ended up with two people who shouldn't have been elected as the candidates. That led to him being elected, which means learning to live with it, which you cannot seem to do. If Hillary had won, you'd have expected the right to live with it. But she didn't. Both parties could have found better choices. Both parties failed. Yet you keep trying to one-side the blame, which is ridiculous.

So did I.
Boy, was I wrong.
He's exposed the bureaucratic state - deep state - media, and the hard-left swing of the Dem party for the anti-constitutional, lawless, entrenched usurpers they are. We're getting the feature film preview of "U.S.A 2050" because he's forced them to try deep-frying the frog instead of gradually boiling.
And he's been very effective as president.

Very true.
Yet you continue in your attempts to normalize Trump.
If you are now admitting that he is extremely abnormal, I'll take that.

People who do extraordinary things are abnormal. A normal Repub president would talk conservative while watching, even aiding, a leftward drift in the nation. Trump returns kicks to the balls. Falsely claim he's racist or traitor? - BAM, BAM! - one for each nut. Lie as an FBI Director and try to entrap him? Fired, you dog. Lead House Dems in a fascist coup to impeach me and you think I'm going to shake your hand at my SOTU? Yeah, no; stand there awkwardly doing some weird shite with your mouth and dentures, and stare at my back.

It's in the open now. He's forced the left to bring future sales forward. They're calling each other misogynist, racist, oligarch, 1%er, old white this and black/brown not knowing how to act that, and "communist" even as they clamber over one another to outspend, out-tax the other. The fascist/socialist faction of the base smells blood, while the lawful, fair-minded part of the base who can do math are saying "WTH?" Just awesome.

Ummmm.... the debt under Trump is exploding upward

Ok, by your preferred metric then:

2018's 41 seats lost was the largest GOP loss since Watergate, which was 49 seats, but this was only because micro-targeted gerrymanders protected the GOP from what would have been a 50-60 seat loss in a previous era.

Feel free to call that "not too bad" if you want.
