The Runner's thread

Got a hi-vis vest at Walmart. Seems to reflect pretty well. I should be getting a "gentle leader" collar and reflective leash for Samus from amazon today. Hopefully this makes my runs safer and easier.

New trail running shoes. I orginally got these in a blue and grey and really liked them but I had to take them back because they were too small. This is the only color they had in my size but I liked them just the same so it's not a big deal

I have a Gentle Leader (it may be a different brand) that I use with my boxer-pit mix and it works great. You will both enjoy your runs much more.

I ordered some Kayano 19s from Zappos today -- I always try to get the last model when the new ones come out to save $50-60 bucks. I keep thinking I'll try another brand, but I've had great luck with those Asics.

Oh, and first 6 miler in a while this evening. 8:20 pace.

I had a six miler planned for this morning. Got two miles and decided it was way too freaking cold. 24 Degrees just didn't cut it for me. 4 miles this morning and a 12 mile bike ride. I figured I made up for what I lost in the run.

Pretty good time though doc.

It has been a friggin' cold December. I'm good down to about 35 degrees, then it just hurts to breathe. I have a running jacket for my pooch, but she bucks when it's below about 40, unless the sun is out.

Good to be back at it after surgery...very little discomfort with runs, still hurts to lift, but I'm pressing through. 5 years ago, I never would've dreamed that I would "miss" running. Looking forward to a good 2014! This may be the year for my first half-marathon.

Ran last night and jogged this morning.

Did 5 miles with my dog last night using the "gentle leader" which seemed to work. I think the pace was faster than she liked. So I need to pay better attention.

Starting the new year off right. 3 mile trail run. My goal this year is to run at least 500 miles this year. I would have made it this year if I hadn't slack off most of November and all of December.

5 miles, 41:10. Eh, not great, but it'll do, especially since I ran not long after eating. Never a good idea.

Also discovered I'm vitamin D deficient which evidently has what's caused me to be tired and lethargic lately. Now taking vitamin D pills and hopefully that will give me the energy to push myself again! I was just blaming myself for being a fat ***, but I'll go with what the experts say and blame it on the lack of Vitamin D.
