The Runner's thread

3 miles this morning. Was about 28 when I finished. Monday is supposed to be colder and if the weather goes as planned it will be the coldest I have ever ran in.

Supposedly easier than the Knoxville. Sequoya Hills can be painful.

Nashville is not an easy course. Though they did change it up this year.

miles 2-3 and 6-7 are gonna suck

Mile and half yesterday afternoon about 5:45. It was 16 degrees. I was shooting for three miles but it was just too cold for that.

I got some new shoes, the Pegasus 29's (and got them fairly cheap). Honestly, I don't know that I've ever had a shoe that fit that well before. But it's been so cold I've not been able to use them, its not been over 20 degrees in about the passed week, and the ice on our back roads where I normally run is more a problem than anything. Hoping a few days off won't kill my times or distance, though it hasn't the last few times I've notice.

It's amazing what a correctly fitting pair of shoes will do for you. Hopefully the roads will clear quickly and you can try them out.

New 5k pr: 25:17.

Felt weird though, at the start I felt like I was running in sand but the pace was very good. Later on it felt like a usual run but the air felt like soup. I was running hard. I really want to get into the 24:xx range in a few weeks.

:good!: Doin' work Nerd. Stick with it and you will get there. Just don't let it get you down if you get stuck in the same spot a couple of weeks.

Thanks.

My approach to setting a new PR is I just go and see how that first mile feels, if it is fast and I feel good I will try to keep that same pace going. If it doesn't feel good or fast, no problem. I will just slow it down and go a further distance. Having the option to just go for a distance rather than beating a set time keeps it fun and I don't feel like I failed or quit. I also think about how much I have improved from a conditioning and fitness standpoint.

3.5 last night. 7:43 average pace. A lot slower than where I wanna be but it's to be expected with slacking off on running and working out in general. I'll get back.

Got in about 2.5 miles today after not being able to run for a while thanks to the weather, didn't want to kill myself. New shoes were really nice, plan to do more like 4 or 5 miles tomorrow morning probably, didn't think I'd still be in such good shape.

Got in two miles playing basketball yesterday. It's kinda scary seeing how out of shape lots of my friends are when we get together and do stuff like that.

4 miles today, just over an 8 minute pace. Felt ok, but definitely wasn't just attacking the trail like I was used to over the summer. Gotta get it back!

5 miles in 44:xx. I rarely run that far, so it was nice to complete that distance.

It wasn't very fun though. Running on a tiny indoor track sucks. 150 laps! Felt like I was at Bristol.

When I am at my parents place I just run and the miles just click away. I will take advantage of some running paths and green ways when the weather gets warmer.

Go titans!

This is me, when I can't run something that changes it kills me.
