The Runner's thread

The Nike+ is $149. The Garmin is $249($299 w/ heart rate monitor). I paid $119 for the Nike with my military discount. I found the Garmin for $209 on eBay with the heart rate monitor.

screwed up and somehow had my compression sleeves shipped to my old place at Ft Bragg. Now I'm going from running with them tomorrow for my last big run to possibly not even having them for my half next weekend. :/

Not that I was trying, but I got a top 10 overall finish in the Men's Open division of the No Coast Trail Series. It's the small tthings...

I stay in shape, and I love to lift, but I'm not a "runner" at all. With all that time to think, all I can think about is how much I hate running. I'm not knocking running. I appreciate the mental endurance runners have.

With my 33rd birthday coming up, I decided to make the goal to run a 6' mile. In the last few weeks I did 8', then 7' 30", then 7', now 6' 39". Going for 6' 19" this week, and 6' next week. Wish me luck.

Anyone else running in the Hot to Trot on Thanksgiving day? It's in Turkey Creek. My wife and I are registered for the 10k.

the easy part is done. 5k in the books, just over 25 minutes. Man was it cold beside the water. 31 degrees. Supposed to be almost 20 degrees warmer tomorrow for the half.

didn't warm up near as much as I was expecting. Half marathon time of 1:58. Nowhere near as good as should be. I hurt my Achilles around mile 6. I really hope it's just a strain or something. It hurts to push off.

Any advice on my first 10k? I've only run a couple of organized competitions. Would love to break the 50' mark. It's early, and I never run in the morning, so I need to figure that part out. Hoping the adrenaline will get me going.

Slam 2 or 3 energy drinks 20-30 minutes before. Boom, dynamite.

But honestly, just run at a pace you feel comfortable at and can maintain. Don't try to push too hard just because it's a "race."
