The Runner's thread

10k XC run in the books. 1:13:52. Thorn bushes. Creek crossings. Mud. Cold. Probabtthe most fun I've had at a race this year. Did it with a group of about 10 friends. Two of them stopped in a creek and threw mud at the rest of the group as they came through.

4 miles in 34:12. Trying to get my pace down for the half in two and a half weeks. I want to try and stay within a 8-9 per mile window.

Compression sleeves.... do any of you wear them during a run? I'm looking for academic studies on them. I'm not really in the market myself, but I'm just curious. About 75% of the ultra athletes that I run with use them.

I wear them on half marathons and above. I have done them without as well. I do feel less sore(afterwards)when I wear them.

Never worn them in a race but I use them frequently in recovery. Think they help

I have been checking out this thread every now and then. I am a casual runner. Got back in it for health reasons but don't compete. After the Vols effort last Saturday, I was inspired to run 9 miles on Sunday, which was my longest. I had done 8.5 in the spring. Good feeling.

I'll be running my first marathon in the spring. Nashville. I've run the half marathon two years in a row. Running a full marathon for being 40 years old.

I'm an idiot.

I've debated calf sleeves for two years now. Ready to bite the bullet to better prepare this winter for a full I'm planning in March. I'm shooting for a PR and under four hours. Why are some $20/pair and some upwards of $50? Those that wear them, what do you have?

I found my arm warmers with the thumb hole this morning. Oh holy day! I really needed those at 20°... I'll probably wear them on Sunday for the first 10k loop, too.

I have 2XU socks and some off brand sleeves. The only difference is the 2XU are heavier. I'm not sure they do any better job

I tried on Zensah and CEP sleeves today. Both were $40. I wear large/xl in size. The CEP model felt a lot better, not sure if they would make a difference in the long run. Brooks sells a pair for $30, but I'm afraid to get them without trying them on first.

also, I just realized my calves are considerably larger than my neck. Not sure if that's good or bad.
