The Runner's thread

Just ran 5.5 in the neighborhood Where I grew up in Huntsville, AL. Only been back a few times in the last 40 years. It was a great run - one of my best.

6 this morning at 8:14 pace. Ran at the river walk here and there was a light fog across the river when I started. It was pretty awesome.

For those looking to get into it, Zen Labs is doing all the Pro versions of the C2 apps for free today. Just search for it on your phone. I think the free ones are Couch to 5k (c25K), Couch to 10K (C210K) and the Half Marathon one. I'm goign to start using the 10K one tomorrow.

Do people in decent shape actually need C2xK programs? I've never used one and my first 5k went smoothly and then 10k went even better a few weeks later. Is there a Couch to 50miler?

It helped me. But I was (and still am) far from in decent shape.

You came from cycling right? Much easier transition I'd think. And having an organized plan helps most people out.

As for me, I'm off the crutches. Still tinder and I quickly learned that while I can support myself without crutches, walking normal still isn't possible for long distances and anything above walking is certainly off limits! Progress though, so I'm happy

Good to hear about the progress bill. Keep taking care and get back quicker.

Been going 3-5 miles three times a week while lifting regularly and putting on some difficult (for me) mass. 5k tonight at 7:37.

It's hard to be dedicated to running and put on weight at the same time.

The average human can only eat so much reasonably healthy food a day. You need to embrace the pocket egg and carry chicken breasts or tuna with you at all times.

Marathon in 9 days. Trying to get a little mileage in before hand.

3.5 with the wife. First run in forever on pavement and her longest distance in years.

104.5 total

2 miles in 15' and my chest kind of hurts. I'm 33. I'm going to go get checked out before I go this hard again.

Update: did an EKG today and I checked out. I do need to get a physical still and check my cholesterol levels (I've got a genetic predisposition), but I am going to resume going hard.
