Does anyone have any recommendations on shoes for big runners? I am 6'5 and 280lbs. I also have almost flat feet and I pronate quite a bit. I currently have Asics Gel Nimbus shoes. Bought them 2 years ago when I was doing 4-5 miles 3-4 times a week. They are starting to wear out. Thanks in advance. I also wear a size 14 shoe so the selection is slim already.
Every other day, between 4.5 - 6 miles each time. Sometimes 4 days a week (meaning two days in a row somewhere in there). Anything more than that and I have found at my age (57) something in my feet gets hurt. How many days a week do ya'll run? I've been at this almost 2 months and I run 4-5 days a week. 3 miles at a time. Running my first 5k in October.
I'll also add they did some sort of dry needle weird acupuncture thing to my calf on Thursday. They stick the needle in the knots and bad scar tissue, then wiggled it around a bit, poked again, did more wiggling. Three or four pokes and wiggles in four different spots. Was miserable. My leg was a block of wood the rest of the day, but all day yesterday and today, it's felt the best since I toreturned the calf
Not trying to be a smartass, but was this actual doctors? Did you look into the science before doing it? just wondering about the procedure.

BTW, when I went to BYU I took their mixed martial arts course and the instructor was a Korean guy just a few years older than me. I introduced him to my friends on the football team. He saw one of their fat ankles and told him he knows acupuncture...it was a big ol' fatty black and blue ankle and 24 hours later he was pretty ready to play.
As far as I know, science doesn't back acupuncture, but I'll be damned if I didn't see results. I would imagine the results aren't lasting (is the scientific contention).
