The Runner's thread

Pre workout before a run is a terrible idea

I've been fine using C4 before. I usually take it, wait 20 minutes, poop and I can run and run.

Had to be at work at 7, so I woke up at 4 and tried the Performix stuff. It works great for the gym and I've used it on my long bike rides too. It did not work well this morning. I feel sorry for the woods I ran off to. Fortunately, the beach was empty, so no one saw me throwing up in the ocean.

I have never taken a pre workout. The only thing I have used is accerlade. I like that seems to work for me.

I know UA started off poorly, when their shoes hit the market nearly 10 years ago, but these shoes are on another level. They're outstanding.

Ran 7. Ish. More liked trotted a bit, the ran pretty well when I got off pavement, then not so great when I got back onto pavement.

Gotcha. I was up at 4 and out riding this morning. The first few miles were rough.

And that's the thing. The preworkout gives me a boost for the first two to three miles before I hit my stride. In the gym, it helps me go from rep to rep, exercise to exercise instead of being that douchebag that sits on the bench for twenty minutes between sets.

I've gotten back on the pavement recently...lots of lifting and swimming this summer. Anyway, I'm going to do a Spartan race this fall. Anyone with experience able to suggest shoes suitable for running/training that I can break in and wear for the race? I have flat feet and usually run in Asics Kayanos or recently in some New Balance 1260v4's.

I did a warrior dash once. If the spartan race is like that don't wear shoes you plan on wearing again after the race.

where do you do trail runs in Chat-town? Any good place you know of other than enterprise south?

The Green Way in Hixson. Its the old Spangler Farms. The Blue Hole in Soddy is a good one too. Its cleaned up now that its state owned. Stringer's Ridge is another one. Stringer's is a good challenge. Lots of up and down elevation change.

Crazy how I've participated in the mud run before but failed to think about the green way. How much mileage is there? And do you enter / park from where you turn in next to the LDS church off Hamill Rd?

4 mile trail run last night. 336 for the year.

Wow, Im at around 330.

I had such a massive brainfart and when I was at 250 in May, for some reason I thought there were 16 months in a year. Though 750-800 was what I was looking at.

I hope I can get to 500. I keep skipping days and it's not good.

5 miles on the Kingsport Greenbelt. Felt awesome to run in Tennessee where it's so much cooler than Va Beach. First run on hills though since the tear. 5 miles for the 5th post tear run! I'm soooooooooooo slow :(

I usually turn in off Hamill road and park across from the dog park and walk to the begining of the trail there across from the church.

As far as mileage goes if you start across from the church and run the dirt path and then across to the dam you could get close to six round trip.

If you are around 330 now you should easily reach 500.
