The Saban era is ovah!

Yeah, most fans from other teams on this site are pretty reasonable. 99gator and Hialeah and Lawrence Wright are pretty respectful, and typically bring good thing. TideWarrior is gone now...

I mean, most people respect what's going on here.

What makes VN ridiculous is the group of fans that either are so positive that they want to overhype everything, which only leads to failed expectations, or...

The group of fans that are so negative that you almost wonder if there's anything you can do to please them.

And then there's fans like Beattie and terrypedigo and nationdom, that you then understand why people make fun of us, because they make absolutely ridiculous claims and statements like "we're not recruiting well enough, all we have are 3 stars," or "Saban is gonna lose a ton of games this year, Bama's reign is over." or a ridiculous incoherent run on sentence.

I mean, just use your head. You don't reel in #1 class after #1 class, be one play away from a NC, and then all of a sudden let the bottom drop out and lose all of that success. It just doesn't happen.

The most liked VN posters are the ones who know how to be realistic. You can be a fan, be positive, and be realistic, without being stupid and a "homer."

What's really funny is watching the ones making the ridiculous pre-season claims morph into the "fire everyone" type about halfway into the season.

Son, you don't know your history. Every program that has been on top will eventually fall. Look at spurrier at Florida. We broke their hearts that night in 2001. Some still say that was arguably his best team. It hurt him so bad that he resigned following the season. According to rivals, spurrier was still bringing in top classes, all the way up to his resignation. But we know those classes were not up to par in hindsight.
The same with bear Bryant. Do you think anybody realized that their talent had fallen off while they were riding high in the early 80's? They won the national title two years prior to his death. What about Tom Osborne at Nebraska? He left solich some decent players after his reign of terror, but they didn't achieve as dr Osborne had.

And LSU broke ours the next week and we haven't been the same since.

And Florida was so broken up, they won 2 NCs 5 and 7 years later. Plus you saying he resigned because of that loss is 100% opinion. You have nothing factual to back that up.

I'm all for ridiculous expectations!!!! Don't wanna fire anyone!!!! Gotta earn the right to win....not hope to win! That is what Butch said! You think Mizzu or Auburn didn't have that mindset as a team each game they suited up and played last year? Why not? Gotta have the mindset you can beat that ass once the fight starts...otherwise you just cover up...don't fight back and get thrown a beating. Gotta rise up and dish it back blow for blow don't quit until you can't stand up...I'm just saying we belong gotta believe it to play like it...then it isn't ridiculous anymore :hi:

No doubt, yes, Tennessee and Auburn will become much harder games than they have been in previous years (Minus '10 for Auburn), but if you think Alabama is getting rid of Saban, or that Saban is just gonna fade into mediocrity, you're crazy.

Saban will retire at Bama, and I'd be willing to bet he wins at least one more NC before he does it.

Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Bama win the NC this year, just so Saban can prove a point. Dude doesn't lose 2 in a row, and then not come back with a vengeance.

They still own the SEC West. Auburn is better, but auburn's success last year was part of the biggest fluke I've ever seen. No way they win most of the games they win if they weren't the luckiest team in the history of college sports.

Auburn's best player last year was Mason, and he's gone this year. Marshall was a surprise for most, and I think with Mason gone, more pressure will be focused on Marshall.

I just don't see how anyone thinks Saban is on the decline. Dude is still tough as nails, recruiting #1 classes without hardly any effort, and is still owning everyone he plays for the most part. Fluke loss against Auburn last year. I don't care what you say, that play will NEVER happen again in the history of football, pro or college.

And I know people say that his talk about his players not being motivated in the Sugar Bowl was an excuse. And maybe it was. But, if I'm a Bama player, and I lose the shot at the National Championship to my biggest in-state rival on a play that had to have some voodoo magic behind it, and i'm settling for playing the sugar bowl that means nothing championship wise...yeah, I could see how you'd be unmotivated.

Saban will retire at Bama. And will win until he doesn't want to anymore.

My hope is that the National Championship game is played on the 3rd Saturday in October every year, not in January.
Are you in your basement with a bottle of lotion and a 8x10 of nick?

Quality post right there.

I think the op is SOMEWHAT right. The game is changing. The question is, will Saban change with the game? He has tried to get rules changed to favor his style of play. That right there is a sign he is worried about the up tempo spread type teams. The hiring of Kiff may, or may not be a good move and only time will tell. I think it's stupid, but for what it's worth, he can pull in recruits. Not that Saban alone can't, but Lane may give it more of an appeal to certain recruits that wouldn't otherwise have interest in Bama. But maybe, just maybe recruits will steer clear because of Lane

Saban has peaked and will downslope. But it has nothing to do with RB and LB positions. Actually those positions are more important than ever with Read-Option.

What will bring down Saban is the kiffen cancer. Word will get around that players hate him and recruits will start to look elsewhere.

Saban won with offense last season. His biggest problem was on defense. They were a step slower than years past. His corners were average at best. I bet we have better cbs than Bama this year! Moseley is going to be the real deal in spite of his two star rating. The guy can flllllllllly!
Saban needs a defensive consultant.....

I would like to consult for him,,,"Listen Saby baby.... lets think Outside the box.... all the players Kentucky did Not want.. I say we Take!!"

Huh.. huh.. what do ya think:)

Might work!! Go Vols

Saban's defense had become antiquated in modern college football. He gave up 30 points three times last year against a middle of the pack schedule.
Gus Malzahn showed the world how to match up against saban's bigger, slower defense. The linebacker and running back positions are becoming less and less important. who cares if saban has ten rbs stacked like cord wood. Having an elusive qb able to get the ball in space to the Josh Malones and Marquez norths of the world is where it's at. You better have the ability to play with five and six dbs. Saban didn't even have two good corners last season and it showed. It limited his ability to substitute, in spite of Bama's lofty recruiting ratings.
Bear was slow to recognize the wishbone had gone the way of the do to bird. Saban's stubbornness, lack of foresight, and lapse in judgment in hiring the biggest clown show in college football will be his demise.

I would agree with you EXCEPT! Since 2008 they are 73-9. Until I see that trend change A LOT then I'll agree with your post!

He won't as he is stubborn. Nobody knew bear Bryant's career was over when Bama waltzed into neyland in 1982 with the nations top ranked team. Six months later he was dead literally.
I'm telling you Bama's systems have become antiquated. His talent is not as good as folks think. They are done...they don't know it yet! That's what funny.....

They won 11 games to open the season last year, lost their 12th game to the eventual SEC champions on a fluke play and then lost what was a meaningless bowl game to this year's preseason #2 team..... after winning it all in 2012. Yeah, they're done.

And did you just post that his talent isn't as good as everyone thinks?

Bama had, according to 247, the #1 class in 2014, 2013, & 2012. They had the #2 class in 2011. The fact that they've done historically well in recruiting the best talent in the country the last 4 years.....

.... and the fact that they've won 3 of the last 5 national championships ....

....and they fact that were as close as they were to playing for the SEC and National titles again last year before the once in a generation type play that the "kick 6" play was versus Auburn.....

....that's why virtually everyone on the planet thinks they're undoubtedly the most talented team in the country.

What facts or evidence do you have that proves or even remotely suggests that they're not as talented as everyone thinks?

Kiffin is in there now and he can eff up a wet dream. I think the Bammer offense being led by Laney boy and Coker is going to be a bust. Defense...stout.

Maybe one day soo

It's bad enough that people think these things, but they write them down and share them.

It explains why so many UFO's are spotted in the South.

Would a Do To Bird be considered a UFO?

This could explain some things here.

The Saban/Bama era is not over...darn it. But blood is in the water...I bet 1 or 2 teams, out of the 2-3 they play this year as usual, will upset Bama. Then..."The Dynasty/Champions" will again not be able to take a loss like a champion would.... they will claim.."we didnt show up....if its not the NC game...we really don't care." Bama has never been known to have class.
