Yes that point has gone mainly unnoticed, if pearl was here we could be in real bad shape. Remember the only commits he had ware and jones, neither one is playing d1 ball this year. Maybe he'd have found someone but then again maybe not. So imagine that team, that'd be a very thin inexperienced and untalented team.

You can't say this team would suck under another coach. Pearl won 20+ games every single year that he coached at every level except last year where he won 19 under the worst circumstances possible and he still made it to the tourney. If he was able to recruit, then we would have a different roster than what we have now. Hopson would be here, and he would have brought in a player or two from the Spring signing class ala Maze, Goins, Prince....
If Pearl was here, and no show cause then the 2011-2012 Vols would more than likely make win 20 games and make it to the NCAA tourney just like every other year that he was here. Give the man some credit.
Like who? Who was available that Pearl was recruiting? NO ONE. Remember, he had a one year recruiting ban. He couldn't go out and get anyone.
This year's talent level is worse than last year's, and they barely made the tourney. Pearl was not going to make the tourney this year.
I will give him credit as I was all about him an still appreciate what he did for the university. You can't just go out though at the end of the year and expect to pick up some big time recruits that you haven't been recruiting. Yes, they would have brought some people in without a doubt but what kind of people. Josh tabb, ramar smith, Tyler smith? These type that don't represent the program like they should. Those are the type of players you are forced to take when you are desperate and when you don't do all your homework. Pearl made multiple comments last year as to Chris jones making it into school no problem and nobody had any idea about ware so that would have blindsided everyone. Realistically yes they'd have brought in somebody but I'm not gonna say they would have made the tourney and the type of team they would field would raise some red flags big time to the kids he's bringing in. It may look like this...
Pg: golden
Sg: mcbee
Sf: tatum
Pf:maymon/Woolridge
C:hall
That doesn't seem very appealing, and there's a good chance Woolridge would not have been here either.
+Hopson
+Ware
Uhhh why would Woolridge leave his Senior year? He would have to sit out a year and lose a year of eligibility....duh
McCrae wasn't going anywhere.
And yes you can go at the end of the year and pick up a recruit. It's done all the time. 5 out of 6 years under Pearl. Ramar, Prince, Goins, Maze, Maymon were all from the Spring signing period.
Agree. I also think we stood a chance of losing Stokes if we kept Pearl (even though Pearl recruited him hard) Seems like a good kid and I imagine he choose to come to UT because of Martin and what Martin sold him. Bruce trashes his credibility like he did with the NCAA incident probably means that kid goes to Arkansas or Florida. Nobody prays and conducts theirselves with character the way he's done and not have a problem with ones character (i woudln't imagine)
Ware has played in 6 games...Google is your friend.

Who said Hopson was staying? Not Hopson. Because he was pretty sure he was a first round pick. Actually, go look at an earlier thread about Scotty's draft chances, and one scout thought he was crazy because Scotty thought he should go high in the draft. Doesn't sound like a guy staying his senior year.
Woolridge and McRae were most likely going to transfer. Actually, I remember Jordan saying that he thought about transferring, there were rumors that he was considering it. I think there was a thread about it.
And you forgot, Bruce could recruit those years. He couldn't. He was banned for a year.
