Vols' players: We want Bruce back

Looks like McCrae "said" that he would return under Pearl

i thought you said tobias also said that he would come back for pearl, i dont read that anywhere. as far as hopson, maybe he would have came back i really dont think so i think at that time it sounded as though all the players didnt really know what to think.

that article backs up what we said about woolridge though probably wouldnt have been here. so ok ill give you scotty.

Show me a link that says he was going to leave...

look that is the point that we are trying to make this is all suggestive nobody really know.

1. hopson leave or stay
2. tobias leave or stay
3. mcrae leave or stay
4. woolridge leave or stay

these 4 things obviously make a difference i really dont see any chance woolridge or tobias stay to be honest with you so even with mcrae and hopson...

hopson/mcrae

i stand by what i said of if pearl brought his team to the ncaa tourney they shouldve doubled his pay and named the coach of the year the pearl trophy.

Everything is all subjective. And since Pearl has won 20 games 95% of the years he has been a head coach, won a NC, won the SEC, took TN to the NCAA every year he was here, been to the elite 8, etc.... then I'm believe that he had the ability to do it again this year.

Pearl sure did a great job beating them teams last year, right?

Wow, this hasn't been reiterated 10,000 times. Yeah he lost to both of those teams last year and get this...he still made it to the NCAA tourney. I wonder if we will do the same this year.

Except that is all subjective and would not have happened. Who were we recruiting at that time considering Tennessee? How was Bruce going to recruit with a recruiting ban on him at the time? How was Bruce going to convince Scotty and Tobias to stay when they their best opportunities to get drafted high? You haven't answered these questions. Also, Woolridge and McRae might have transferred.

I don't know. I think CCM is doing the best he can, and has a really tough job trying to play a completely different style than Bruce. Every loss was reasonable and understandable except for Austin Peay. He just beat a top 15 team Bruce couldn't last year.

And sorry, I appreciate what Bruce did basketball wise. But I'm glad he's gone, he embarrassed the university, lied to everyone, brought shame to the program, and almost got us in deep **** with the NCAA that could have set this program back 10 years. Also, Bruce wasn't as great as everyone makes him out to be. Take away the 36 hour #1 ranking, and JP Prince's block on Evan Turner, and he's a more glorified version of Jerry Green.

You appreciate what Bruce did basketball wise, but then say all he was is a glorified Jerry Green...really. I didn't see a sellout just about every night at TBA under Green. I didn't see the money spent to upgrade TBA under Green. I didn't see the money spent to build Pratt Pavilion under Green. I didn't see Green handing out pizzas to students camping out for tickets. I didn't even see people camping out for tickets. I didn't see Green going into class rooms and standing on tables in lunch rooms begging students to come support the team. Jerry Green....really.

He told a lie. He paid the price. Big time. Get off your high horse cause I know you've done worse. Who hasn't. Hell far our prez. didn't get crucified as much as Pearl did for doing the same thing.

I'm confused doesn't NC usually mean national championship? Where the hell was I?

Of course you think he did that. D-II championship is not an NC.

the difference though in all his other years though as a coach that you are failing to see is that he was able to recruit a team and not lose members of the current team. i dont know what you think he was going to be able to achieve, but i really think you arent thinking about all the circumstances. Pearl was pretty much done recruiting, he had 2 guys coming in maybe would try to get a juco guy or 2, but he fully expected both jones and ware to be on the roster this year. So, when everything came out about those 2, it would have been entirely too late to try and get juco players in here to help, and so he really wouldnt have been left with much. Best case scenario

golden/mcbee
hopson/mcrae
tatum/
maymon/woolridge
hall/

like i said im sure he would have got a juco to come in but nobody that you really can honestly say would be much of a contributor, maybe like a john fields type or something. so i guess what my question is do you think with that above lineup you can honestly say that you think pearl would get 20 wins and an ncaa tourney appearance? if your saying yes then you clearly are saying you think pearl is a much better coach than ccm?

ccm has that lineup PLUS washpun, richardson, stokes, yemi, and miller, and most feel that an ncaa tourney would be quite the achievement.

thank you for taking the honors of breaking the news i really didnt think i could be the one. what was next if you were an assistant on a team you get credit for coaching those teams as well? mind boggling.

Look it up on google.

I know what is being referred to his d-ll championship that he won. i wasnt counting that i really didnt think we were going d-ll. so cuonzo played in elite 8 and coached so he has more elite 8's than pearl is that the logic we are using now? He may have played in hs championship too so we should probably check on that because that must count for something too.

i mean honestly now, d-ll is really starting to push it a little bit especially since MOST division l coaches that are hired now have never coached at a d-ll school, so who know maybe they would have done the same.

Yet you were the one who brought those teams up in this thread dumb ass.

Some of you could learn something from DeCourcy. I think he's a tool but he was just inducted into the BWA Hall of Fame.

Well hell yeah I think Pearl is a better coach than CCM. How can that even be argued? CCM may eventually become a better coach, and I cedrtainly hope he does, but he has a long way to go to accomplish what CBP has.

Yeah, and hiring an AD that actually cared about basketball actually did a lot for that. Doug Dickey gave dick about basketball. And it showed.

What the hell does the last part have to do with anything?
