1. Kudos to Laura Taliferro. That was a top notch opening night Anthem.
2. John Fields improves UT's defense immensely. The perimeter players can be more aggressive since they know they've got a stopper behind them.
3. Tobias Harris is very good. Not "The Next Carmelo Anthony" good, but very good nonetheless.
4. This isn't a great passing and ballhandling team. They had way too many loose possessions.
5. I'd again like to thank the 'AA for utterly ruining exhibition games. Pretty sure a game against the Argentenian Junior team would have been a little more fun
6. Sorostitutes doing performance art to the music of Queen. Awesome halftime, simply awesome.
7. Trae Golden is going to be a very solid player. Needs to go left occssionally, but I like his poise out there.
8. Renaldo Woolridge has the worst haircut in college basketball history. At least he's got that going for him.
9. If this team improves its ability to outlet the ball, they'll run some people out of the gym. Fields, Harris, and Hall will leave other team's bigs gasping for air.
10. The team looks to be in very good shape. Even Steve Forbes appears to have gotten into the act and lost several pounds.

Looks like were still a bad defensive perimeter team, but I am very impressed with Fields.

Very good, objective comments.

Especially the one about Swiperboy's haircut. He's not gonna sell many records with that crap goin' on....

Good to see another one of these threads. How good is "very good" hat?

I'm just not sure who will consistently score baskets. I suppose Scotty (and Cameron when he is back).

After that, is the next option Harris? I am just worried about some of the half-court sets.

On the other hand, there will be some games where the length and depth of this team will slowly destroy folks.

Some things I noticed..

Goins has hit the weights hard this offseason. He had a large upper body last year but you could tell he put in work.

Fields is going to be fun to watch. He wants to swap the ball so bad that the kid is jumping after the whistle blows. I love it. You can tell he'll work hard.

Harris will be just as amazing as expected. I didn't notice anything too flashy and a couple of his passes were off but you can tell he has a high basketball IQ and I really look forward to watching him grow as a player and a leader.

Agree to disagree, good post though.

That's the problem year in and year out.

But there were some Wayne sets last year, and creative ways to get JP and Bobby the ball. I am not sure who that guy will be this year. Probably Cam if he stays healthy.

agreed. This team has more speed though and should look more like Pearl's first couple teams at UT, more press and break.

Need someone to shoot.. Scottie stroked it well tonight, but we need someone who can hit three or four every night.

not a lot of people. The passing was sloppy towards the end, mostly because they knew it was over and were trying to be flashy. Tobias Harris is a very good fundamentally sound player. He gets to the rim without having to tear it down. Scotty's shooting has really improved. John Fields is great on defense. I would love to see him and Brian on the same side at some time. Melvin has improved defense. Looks like Brian Williams has done a lot to improve his game. I am so excited for this season and for Monday. Go vols.

Hopson's shooting looked pretty good last year against completely overmatched teams as well. No real way to tell if he's improved until we play against real teams.

Scotty has a nice fresh prince of bel-air or high top look though that was pretty good.
