That makes no sense. You could watch a guy shooting in an empty gym and tell if his shooting has improved.
I'm sure you were one of the ones on here bragging about how much better Hopson was shooting last year when we beat Asheville by 100.
Funny how he didn't shoot quite so well against legitimate competition. It's a confidence issue with Hopson. He does well against crappy teams and mediocre against real teams.
Complete the following hypothetical sentence spoken several months from now. "The reason the Vols are such a tough team to beat right now is that they're just so damn good at ______."
They're going to have to defensively rebound well and convert that into transition scores. This team won't be anything special in the halfcourt offensively.Hat: this team is obviously really talented and I believe most would agree that they'll be really good if they develop chemistry and find an identity. But in order for that to happen, what needs to be the M.O. of the team? That's a vague and terribly phrased question, so let me try another way. Complete the following hypothetical sentence spoken several months from now. "The reason the Vols are such a tough team to beat right now is that they're just so damn good at ______."
Jokes aside, I think the answer has to be half-court defense.
This team will be able to score points in just about any setting, and anchored by Williams, Fields, and Harris, will be the best rebounding team Pearl has fielded.
The question is, can they find the effort and teamwork to bring the half-court defense, night after night when the grind gets tough and the shots aren't always falling?

Hopson had 17 against KU, 16 against SoCal , and averaged 12 against UK in three games. His APG was double digits or better in almost every SEC game.
His worst game was against Ohio State. He only had 3 points and had 5 turn overs (highest of the season).
He played well against Michigan State and was very much involved in the final minutes of the game. If he would have made that free throw, we may have had a different outcome.
My point was he's inconsistent. And if you're trying to say that isn't true, using Michigan State as an example is not a good idea.
I also used Ohio State as an example. I wanted to use both season and tournament stats, against our very best opponents.
He was consistant during the regular season but not in the tournament.
Why do you think he played so inconsistently during the tournament?
Williams, Harris, Fields, Maymon.
The toughest defending and best rebounding group that Pearl has had.
We may finally get the production I was hoping to see from Crews and Chism playing next to one another.
Is Maymon going to be a big shot in the arm when he gets here? How good is he? I was excited when he transfered, but he kind of seems left out. Is this just because we dont really know until we actually see him practice and play some?
