The shut down thread

Thats a 2000 mile border. We have a wall or fence already on 1300 miles of that border from when Schumer and Pelosi voted yes for it in 2006 and 2013. So the maintenance you are so worried about of steel just standing there is already there on 1300 miles. That leaves 700 miles without. I think 3 to 400 of it doesn't need a wall from the geography and topography of the land. So that leaves 300 miles of wall left needed that the Democrats are fighting against because it's Trump.

You hear build that wall. The truth is the 5B Trump wants would actually build walls in 4 different locations not just one long solid wall that equals something like 169 miles of wall.
Weezer? Weezer? Weezer?

Minimum wage hike. Lol

If I'm a undocumented illegal alien in the US and just listened to Trumps offer while reading at the bottom that Pelosi says "This is a nonstarter" I would be mad as hell.
Why would they be angry? It wasn't an offer made in good faith. Like every other deal Trump has ever made, he'll just weasel out of it later. Trump is a pathological, narcissistic liar and is not to be trusted.

Even if he held to his word (a ludicrous, nigh impossible idea, I know), it is a terrible offer. It just kicks the can down the road so he can get his monument.

There's already 1300 miles of "monument " on the 2000 mile border that Schumer and pelosi voted for.

You saying he would weasel out of it is fake news. He's the only POTUS to push this hard on immigration reform. It's a great offer for the ones here illegally wanting to be citizens.

I like how he interjected "Best economy!" into this tweet for no reason.

If, as Trump states in his press release, allowing people to go back to work is the right thing for the country he should just do it and not use it as a political bargaining chip.

Nancy should quit using it as a bargaining chip.

See how this works. Depends are where you stand because it determines what you see.

This is what I see:

"It was the President who singled-handedly took away DACA and TPS protections in the first place -- offering some protections back in exchange for the wall is not a compromise but more hostage taking," - Chuck Schumer

Would be like if the Dems tore down the wall and offered to fund no trespassing signs.

I see the "wall" issue as no different than the "Guarantee - right on the box!" scene in Tommy Boy. It's something to give fearful people a warm, fuzzy sense of comfort but does nothing to deter the illegal infiltrators we should be most concerned with.

Does that mean I'm against border security? Absolutely not. We've got to do it, do it right, and do it well. We need to be talking about tunneling protection, UAV deterrence (both using and defending against), and enhanced documented crossing locations to aid private businesses in hiring / monitoring seasonal laborers. And, yes, likely building some barriers as well in targeted locations.

Nurses. My god, nurses. Some of the best people on the planet.
True and I was wishing I had married one this morning, as I limped into the 24-hr Walgreens with my knee wrapped in packaging tape to see what they had in the knee-brace department.

The point is that is good security. It’s not a binary choice. It’s not a necessarily a wall or drones/cameras. One doesn’t make the other a bad option.

Good security employs all of those in one form or fashion.

I guess the point I www making is that type of argument is for simpletons.

Walls where needed and what you said. To say the wall is the solution is wrong (not implying that is your position).

Lol.. Critical care can kick your but. Recovery is a much more acceptable human pace.
I was recovering from a broken leg in Salt Lake about a hunnert years ago, and I asked my physical therapist how he handled all the pain and suffering. He said: "when they get to me, most everybody will get better".

Left femur spiral comminuted fracture, fixed with a titanium rod down the marrow channel in 1992. Never had a cast. If you ski, check that your bindings aren't too tight at the beginning of the season.

Show me a WH press release which contains the exact statement above please first humper doodle

If he's going to open it before getting money for those sections of wall just do a state of emergency and then open it.

That's his prerogative. It will open a can of worms and a sensible president probably wouldn't go there. It will allow future Presidents to just declare an emergency for anything they want.

Remember when we did amnesty, and in exchange congress was going to fix the leaky border issue so we wouldn't have a new crop of illegal aliens to contend with? Don't worry; neither does congress. Congressional promises to do something mean absolutely nothing, but they sure know how to spend money for nothing.
