The shut down thread

The Congress/Senate and Uncle Don in Washington thinks its a Crisis.. The average American thinks it funny...

I don't think it's funny I think it's kind of sick.

One side is dangling the carrot of millions of children's healthcare...CHIPs. This could have been done at anytime over the past few months on it's own.

The other is dangling almost 1 million mostly young people who have been vetted, have social security cards, drivers licenses.

Hardly any of them are talking about a budget even though we are a few months into the fiscal year.

It's a shame, on both sides. Maybe sham is more like it.

I don't have a problem with increased border protection at all. That will not address the bigger problem of people coming here legally on work visas and disappearing after the visa has expired.

It (border security) also has nothing to do with the DACA recipients who are already here, they didn't come here illegally, their parents did. Many of them would have met many of the requirements for citizenship except there is no law on the books that allows them to pursue citizenship, for the most part.

Obviously, the whole immigration system needs an overhaul because it simply isn't working, really, for anyone. Certainly the situation with regard to Mr. Garcia is a bad look, putting it mildly.

You are right; border security is just one part ... but it's a big part. The DACA kids did come here illegally - their parents brought them. For that I can sympathize to an extent; they came illegally, but many were too young to make the choice themselves.

Children born in the US to aliens - illegal or legal - receive US citizenship at birth, so they aren't in the DACA clan. The US is one of a dwindling number of countries still issuing citizenship by virtue of birth in the country - jus soli or birthright citizenship. Only a few countries outside N and S America still do this. Chinese women have been coming in packs to pop kids, get them US citizenship, and return them back to China. Bunches of kids with the advantages of US citizenship and no understanding of or allegiance to the US. You couldn't hedge your bets and get your kids citizenship in China, Japan, Germany, or any other non sh!thole by doing the same.

Of course, Dims would have you believe that to refuse birthright citizenship would be to leave kids stateless, and that just isn't so. Kids born to Mexican parents would still be Mexican.

As I've said. If they want to update the rules, change the laws, I'm all for it. What I'm not for is cutting people off at the knees and leaving them living scared of deportation even if they have held up their end of the bargain, the only choice they had. You can end DACA, that's fine. But then you have to say what you are going to do.

We are going to deport all of you.

Then those folks could quit going to work, quit paying for school, buy a plane ticket and go somewhere else...I would say home, but as far as most of them know, this is home.

Or, You've lived here for at least five years, you have a job or you're in school, you meet all the requirements that any immigrant needs to except you have no path to a green card. It really isn't that hard. Here's how you get a green card.

What you can't do is just say F' your status...we'll let ya know? Maybe?

I agree it’s bull**** that congress hasn’t come up with a sensible compromise.

Trump never said that, they all know what his conditions are including ending chain migration and funding for the ****ing wall. You guys think you’re some kind a moron but in reality he’s the smartest **** her in the room. Daca was illegal to begin withand I hope they don’t ****ing do anything with it. You’re in no position to demand anything..

lol, he's "the smartest" in the room? Yeah... No one knows what this clown wants, he changes his mind with whatever personality is on duty at the time. His own party is scratching their heads. He's nothing more than a useful idiot.

No wall for you.

Absolutely sick and f'ing tired of the party that is not getting their way pulling this crap. I said it when Republicans were doing it and I will say it now that Democrats are being obstructionists. These stupid prick politicians need to work together. Neither side is completely wrong or completely right and there is common ground. And if you're a minority politician you've got to give more.

How many of you on either side of the issue will be consistent? Or is this just one of those issues that brings out the hypocrisy in most people?

Calling Loother...... look at this ☝🏼️Post..... here is Clearwater who typically leans liberal looking at a situation and thinking for himself ....and calling it like he sees it...... maybe one day you'll be capable of such ......but I bet you're thinking it's all Trump's fault.

Why is anyone surprised? The Dems are going to take every opportunity to thumb their noses at Trump. Our governmental process has devolved into twitter feeds and talk show soundbites.

I'm actually surprised the Reps aren't doing the same thing.

You preaching to me about balance and objectivity is priceless. Go back in your previous posts and find me an example or two of your objectivity.

I posted an example from yesterday of me going against the democratic side and agreeing with a poster from the right.

I'll wait (as y'all love to say)

Waiting for you to find your past posts showing your great objectivity.

How about this ..... Bush expanded govt....Bush grew the debt like a mofo..... TN had a democratic governor.... Phil Bredesen..... I liked him...I voted for him.... he was a businessman and fixed a mess made by the previous stool sample Republican, Sundquist.
McCain is a Rep and I think he sucks balls.... same for Lindsey Graham.... Mitch McConnel too

Let's see, the GOP blames the DNC.

Pelosi and Schumer blame Trump.

Though it's on the Senate to send up a bill for Trump to sign, so their blame is misplaced for the moment.

I found out last night there are are grown, educated adults that actually believe the military is being furloughed. That there won’t be any alert crews at Air Force bases. Who’s going to launch a counter offensive if North Korea attacks?

This really happened.

Another common misconception is that the active duty military isn’t getting paid.

On one of the last rounds, I had a troop ask me if they still had to come to work.

Maybe we can write a bill to address the issues of the people. How about 3 billion for border security, Dreamers get citizenship, halt the visa lottery until a comprehensive overhaul of our immigration system and end chain migration, fully fund the military, fully fund chip.

Get Mexico to pay for it all.
