I believe that dynamic is called "vector". The rate at which money changes hands.
How does vector alter GDP?
Do you two see these people going out spending like drunken sailors when they get paid? It's a good question - the impact in GDP will be temporary. When the government resumes and back pay arrives will see a small stimulative effect.
So this quarter could see an impact but next quarter should see an opposite impact.

I was just thinking the government employees, government contractors not getting paid now might think about parking more in savings.huh?
the bills they aren't paying now will be paid in the near future - it is delayed payment not forgone payment.
there is some lost economic activity but there will be some gained economic activity. It may not be a complete zero sum but all the loss in GDP #s now critics should at least acknowledge that future GDP will be lifted when the delayed activity hits.

Not true, federal contractors don't get paid. Is that a separate economic sphere?they still have to pay the bills and I don't believe we've seen such savings after previous shutdowns.
You missed the mortgage this month, bank says pay it next month - you get 2 checks and pay 2 mortgages - same amount of money in that economic sphere.
Yes, the whole thing was master minded by Trump to fulfill his real mission of undoing the "deep state," also known as Belzebub, Jimmy Hoffa, The Devil, this stuff, amkoptydrogen, etc.
All indications to the contrary, Trump is a Secret Agent Genius.
Sure. That's it. Sure.
