The Sub Sandwich Hierarchy

Blimpie's
Steamboat
Lenny's
Firehouse
McAllister's (technically not a sub shop, but their sandwiches are great)
Nixon's Deli
Quizno's
Subway
Kenjo Market

Went to McAllister's once with an ex and another couple. Ridiculously expensive.

As far as bang-for-your-buck, I don't think you can beat a Boar's Head Ultimate at Publix. Of the true sandwich chains, I would go Firehouse>Lenny's/Nixons>JJ>>>Subway.

Not all Boar's Head meats are the best, I actually prefer certain Sara Lee meats.

I like their roast beef and horseradish mayo.

A good horseradish sauce makes just about any sandwich good.

I don't go to many places that aren't independent, but Panera is decent quality, my only issue is that you pay a hell of a lot for what you get.

I'll get a twinkie and a bag of doritos for lunch before I'll eat subway or blimpie.

Gus's/ Sam & Andy's are near the top. I used to work at Sam & Andy's in Farragut in HS and college. Gus would always sell us beer on Sunday morning after being out all night...of course he would charge a drunk tax, but that's ok.

As far as chains go, Jason's is good. Bellacino's is also good.

Jimmy Johns and Firehouse are OK.

However, if you can find an Italian grocery store/ deli...they tend to make some pretty tasting sammaches.

Disappointed because we don't have any of these close any longer. I used to really like their sammiches.

I believe there was a Schlotsky's on the strip when I was in school at UT. Cannot recall with certainty, but I want to say it was down on the Pilot end of Cumberland.

So no one here has been to "which, wich" I see.

.....anyway.

Jason's Deli, Lenny's and Pop's Deli on Shelby Drive.: Upper Tier.

Firehouse, jimmy johns. Second Tier.

Subway. "I'm tired and famished" Tier

Someone didn't read the thread I see.

Haha, it was mentioned by a couple of people. I've never heard of it.

The only sub shops one should concern ones's self with (in no particular order):

Firehouse
Which Wich
Publix
Jason's Deli

Leftover Easter turkey and ham on rye bread, with spicy mustard, green lettuce, a 5 pepper blend seasoning, oregano, cherry peppers and smothered in extra sharp cheddar cheese trumps any sub sandwich shop.
