The Supreme Court of the United States Thread

Bunch of dishonest hacks--all of whom lied during the confirmation hearings about this issue (Roberts and Alito) and the three newest
conservative hacks on Roe v. Wade.

Roberts has been a disgraceful chief justice. He has done absolutely nothing to restore the ethical integrity of a court that clearly has serious corruption problems.

How do you see the Chevron ruling biting conservatives in the ass?
not so much this one, but the previous one.

but just imagine if Congress gets serious about its job, and its more official legislative red tape instead of ABC redtape. the ruling didn't make big government illegal, it just changed the type. and the next time it will be harder to dig out because they will actually be codified laws making millions felons for owning an arm brace for a gun.

But that is what they are saying, the Law does not provide for what you desire.

dude, did you miss Covid? going to be plenty of emergencies and special situations that are played up.

there are plenty of people making laws out there, and people ruling on them, where a lot of bad, up and maybe past assassinations are going to be okayed. even if its just the initial act, it will be okayed, and it will take 40 years to "fix it" and stop 40 years of bad acts, and the people responsible will not pay the price.

Obama's use of the IRS to go after Republicans just got green lit.

Considering NOBODY including Obama was ever indicted, there wasn't even a mention of anyone indicting Obama how can you go so chicken little? I don't see much of anything changing, presidents going back to at least the 1860s have committed crimes and how many have been charged?

For all those yowling about sending SEALs after political opponents (which I'm not in the least bit certain would actually hold up) wouldn't any such actions as CIC run afoul of the Posse Comitatus Act?
It would run afoul of the U.S. Constitution as Americans can't be deprived of life and liberty without due process, as a generalization.

The Courts don't want to be involved in this because at certain points it becomes a Political Issue which can only be solved by a Political Solution i.e. overthrow.

Compared to you.

Now think about that one.

Fact the facts, dude: A lot of you Earls are laughable hypocrites--along with being racists and misogynists. All patently evident when talk turns
to Harris. When you support the gangster, you can't REALLY and legitimately criticize anybody else for anything without showing yourself to be a complete wanker.

JMO, now we are going to have people like AOC and MTG writing regulations. Highest bidder wins the prize. Not that much different I grant you, but can you imagine either of them trying to do that?

That is an interesting point people should remember. While the office of the chief executive might be immune those acting on any misguided direction most definitely are subject to very public consequences

Example: G Gordon Liddy and Richard Nixon
Nobody is above the law. Did I do it right? Those on the left should also be advocating for this if they want to country to heal and start trusting those in charge.

It will actually be easier to dig out of bad legislation, the Chevron deference (in a nutshell) prevented people from challenging regulatory agencies because federal judges were instructed to defer to the experts. Now we have two avenues to challenge bad legislation, elections and the courts.

The SCOTUS hacks just awarded absolute immunity for any act deemed official--and deemed official, per the ruling, in the broadest sense. Roberts used the term "outer perimeters" of official acts, which means in the broadest sense. Pretty freakin' wild.

A disgraceful ruling--but it's a disgraceful court--and I never thought I'd say that.

True but anything they write will have to pass both houses of congress and be signed by the president. What we had were people like AOC and MTG writing regulations and having just a few people just like them approving them.

So you're saying Harris is more qualified than you?

Both have. Bushs were more interested in drug and arms trafficking, although the rumors were Barry Seal was taken out by them. (I actually have some background on this.)
Not trying to burst any bubbles but I was thinking about deaths outside of the conspiracy realm.

We know Obama killed a dude. I watched Clinton's doj kill the Waco cult.

Which was expected for obvious reasons.

Guess this is the reaction from the right because we elected a black guy once for president.

I think what your trying to say is that Trump was elected as racist reaction to Obama. That's incorrect.

Trump was elected bc you all nominated Hillary. The most hated person in politics.

Now he's going to win again bc you put up an invalid.

@evillawyer do you believe Biden is currently able to execute the duties of his office?

The rest of what the Bushs were doing in the 80s are consider more or less fact at this point, you can go back and look at the Congressional Testimony and Record. I wouldn't say killing him was fringe.

Anyone can dispute anything I guess but I have lots and lots and lots of stories, and first hand ones and some indirectly relate to Clintons in the 80s.

Americans really don't want to know what the Bush family was doing. (I'll leave it at that)

At least we Earls aren't suffering from dementia.

wouldn't need to be the military. plenty of agencies who just got tied back to the various branches of the government.

The ATF rolling in and shooting a executive officer of an Arkansas airport could pretty easily get explained away as some official matter.

Don't disagree (and had a caveat of such in my post) but wondered even above and beyond that arguement I would think the PCA would take the whole discussion off the table of using the military in such a manner as the hysterical out there are positing.

It really is a colossal screw up. For months we all watched his public appearances and knew something was wrong. But his inner circle and the sycophants in the media kept proclaiming oh he's good, sharp as attack, fully engaged. All the while they were supporting and spreading the lie, they could have been figuring out a way to replace him gracefully on the ticket. Now they get caught with their pants down and have no viable options. The incompetence is incomprehensible

Lincoln got away with it and you are upset with it. this ruling just maybe Lincoln immune, you should be pissed.

Covid changed a lot of things, I think it was another Civil War esque moment of expanded government powers. it hasn't even been a half a decade, long way to go to compare it to the butterfly effect of something from more than 150 years ago.
