Good analysis OP.

Run. Keep the motion going on O. Double post sets were a good touch. Shots were falling and they were getting open looks because they were running as a team and Stokes/Maymon were moving in the paint. Good active D. Need to block out better on the boards. Richardson's scoring takes the pressure off McCrae.

This is a rhythm and motion team. They shoot better and get better looks with it. Hope Zo remembers that going forward if he wants to stay around and have success.

What a great game. Where has this offense been all of this year? It helps when you make the shots. Unfortunately, we may never be able to shoot that well again at least consistently. Very few teams could.

I hope this gives the team some confidence and can finish strong. Virginia's tough defense in the paint strategy backfired on them because we were able to hit the outside shots. Our D was very good also.

Richardson could turn into the most improved offensive star of the year if he can keep this up. Hubbs hit some shots too.

Where has this type of performance been? IF we play like this consistently we may make the tourney after all.

My oldest son and I were there, and I told him before to expect a tough, low scoring game. Whoops.

Great, great gameplan by CCM, excellent work on offense by J Rich, McRae, and Stokes. A couple of nice shots by Hubbs and Barton helped in the first half. I still don't see the Maymon of old, but maybe he will continue to come around as the season progresses.

That effort tonight looked like a solid tourney team. Our athleticism was evident. However, we have been an up-and-down team for the past 3 years. We sat right in front of the NCAAT banner, and it was tough looking up to see the consecutive trips from 2005-2010 and not yearn for the enthusiasm we had during that run. Still a painful reminder with the singular E8 year. I would love to see Martin develop the ability to plan and coach this type of game on a weekly basis.

My post game report:
I will sleep good tonight thanks to an outstanding performance by the Tennessee Vols!

Got home in time to catch the last half of the 2nd half. I'm going to watch it on the DVR tonight. When Richardson gets involved, this team is hard to beat. We will be a tough out for anyone if we play like this every night. Unfortunately, we won't and we won't shoot that well, but this has to be a confidence booster. Virginia isn't a great team, but they are a pretty damn good defensive team. Hell, we scored more points in the 1st half tonight (48) than we did for the entire game last year (38). Very good win that we had to have.

This pretty much made up for having to listen to the announcers last year belittle us for only scoring 38 points. We sucked in that game alright but UVA didn't do much better.

We got some pretty good props from Jimmy Dykes tonight. They really couldn't believe that anybody was doing that to Virginia's defense. I just hope we can hit some shots on the road in Baton Rouge, Lexington, etc.

Martin understood how to play Virginia (especially after last year). You don't play their style, you force them to run, and that's what Tennessee did.

So there may be hope for CCM after all. Maybe he learns as he goes and builds on that!! If so maybe he'll turn out OK after all!! We can all hope anyway. I'm really tired of coaching change!! Let's get good and stick with it for a while. That would be welcome change!!:good!:

We have a tough SEC game right out of the gate to start SEC play in LSU. I don't like our chances there, but if we play like we did tonight then we'll win. There aren't many teams we can't beat if we play like we did tonight. However, Virginia has never been known for their offense. They hang their hat on their defense and for UT to put up 87 on them is pretty damn remarkable.

We should be no worse than 2-1 heading to Lexington. Tonight was a step in the right direction. The guys seemed to recognize it's time to start playing. If Richardson stays active, I like our chances against anyone.

I say tonight was a nice win. The problem I have is several players play good all at once and then each have their struggles for several games. Wins like tonight and the throttling we gave Kentucky last season are great but it would be nice if our players could spread their good play across the board. One game doesn't change my perspective on Cuonzo Martin. Players had the talent all along but Cuonzo needs to get them up more consistently.

Deep breath. It was a remarkably shocking performance but we have been here before. These type performances don't make up for the negative ones and I think sometimes people think they do.
