The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

I get a big laugh from you clowns upset over the use of tax dollars.

LOL, undermining the constitution! You clearly don't understand the consitution

I think the point is that the GOP touts itself as level-headed and fiscally conservative. But then its leaders conjure up a controversy and spend about a quarter mill on a contrived "statement" to keep the controversy alive because it polls well.

It was just a cheap gimmick by Trump and Pence, and we taxpayers should not subsidize it.

Heh.

Your thin skinned boy is king of snowflake mountain, the safest space in all the land.

You just aren't bright enough to realize it.

I'll take you serious when you're consistent in your concern for MUH tax dollars.

It's a position that polls well, so as a politician, of course they're going to exploit it. The left just doesn't know when to stop. It's their absurd overreactions to all of these stunts that fuel the fires. However, I think they should keep it up!

Trump is not my boy but he is not thin skinned....he is playing his gimmick for all its worth.

The fact that trump calculated that his supporters would be energized by this stunt speaks volumes. His supporters should be insulted, but unfortunately trump has them pegged.

It's not just his supporters that care about that issue which is why he did it and like clock work liberals are doubling down and it's working in his favor.

So the difference between you acting like a decent human being and calling someone an mfer is a cup of coffee? Sounds reasonable

Oh no, I misunderstood your question. Coffee has nothing to do with me calling someone a mother ****er or being a decent human being.

Well, see, that is sort of the point.

We can agree and disagree on whether to spend tax dollars and how much to spend on individual things. You might say we should spend x on a particular military project, I might say no, spend a little less.

I might say we need to spend X on subsidizing health coverage under the ACA, and you might argue, no, we should spend less.

In each case, we'd both have cogent arguments and facts to support our points of view and a discussion could be had. That is, at least theoretically, what the Congress does as it decides where to spend and how much.

But this nutty thing yesterday, there is literally NO argument that can be made that tax payer money should fund that. None. Zero. Zilch.

The VP can go out and about and he needs protection and fly the safe way for VP, that's fine. But the general rule is, if its purely political, the RNC pays for it. As they should.

THIS was purely political. It was intended to be that way. So we should not pay for it.

You know what the real irony was? Had the players not taken a knee during the anthem! Oooooh, that would have pizzed Trump off to no end, and would have ruined the plan for Pence to walk out.

You guys say you voted for Trump or support him because he's not going to be business as usual. He's going to get things done and plow ahead. None of the major things are getting done. Its all just smoke and mirrors to perpetuate the culture wars that got them elected. Trump is turning out to be just another politician and the opposite of the shake things up and get stuff passed theory.

If you think he honestly cares about these people kneeling you're delusional. He's playing his base like a fiddle to score cheap political points with them.

He counts on them not really understanding anything more than them 'disrepckt'n Murica.'

I don't remember your outrage for all of team Obama's taxpayer-funded political trips

Oh so you just dont have the ability to discuss an opposing viewpoint without calling someone an mfer? Interesting

As I understand it, Pence went from there to some sort of speaking or fund raising event out west, and the RNC paid for that part of the trip, as it should. I just think they should pay for this part, too, under the circumstances.

If Obama went to a rally purely to raise money or something in that vein, then yes, the DNC or whoever ought to pay for that, I would agree.

Everything they do has a political element to it, and I am not sure where the dividing line exactly is, but this Pence thing yesterday was clearly over that line and taxpayers should not foot the bill.

You really don't want to compare the amount of vacation money spent on the Obama family vs. the Trump family.

And btw, Moochelle?

Whatever the Trumpster and Pence did may indeed "poll well".

But I'll wager far more Democrats than you imagine were pleasantly suprised and in agreement with Pence's actions.

Why? In the 1st 200 years of tbe US there are an estimated 1,309,000 war dead. (more now).
Of that number, nearly half, 623,026, were Civil War on both sides. (Recent methodoligy raises that number to 650,000 to 850,000 dead. )

For the Union, more than 110,000 soldiers, ...Americans, foreigners, white, black,... gave their lives to end slavery.

Currently:..."Many Iraq and Afghanistan veterans face a life of disability due to the physical and psychological injuries they sustain in the war zones. At least 970,000 veterans have some degree of officially recognized disability as a result of the wars. Many more live with physical and emotional scars despite lack of disability status."...

The number ofAmerican families of all walks, all races, who bear the death of loved ones or shoulder the lifetime burden of care for those casualties not mortally wounded is staggering.

The dead and the living deserve everyones gratitude and respect, especially during ceremonies designed for just that.

Anyone who subverts these ceremonies honoring our country and those who died to protect these freedoms; especially to free those who were trod down by slavery deserve no respect.
I don't want to even hear what they have to say. They chose the wrong venue.

This position is neither liberal nor conservative.

You wrote this and then made the choice to hit submit? That's a tad bit sad.

Oh the hell it isn't.

What's the right venue?

You people crack me up. They aren't protesting the flag. They aren't protesting dead soldiers. They aren't protesting veterans. They are protesting perceived racial inequalities. Now, the white conservative bloc wants to frame it as protests against America. It's insane. Don't bother discussing the issue. Tell them that they should be grateful that they live here and make a bunch of money. Republicans were outraged when Obama made his "you didn't make it" comment, but apparently that applies to black athletes.

When should they protest? Blacks have been told that marching isn't the appropriate way. Sitting during the anthem is not the right way. Despite the fact that kneeling was suggested by a veteran as a way to show respect while still protesting... not the proper way either. People just don't want to see political statements at a football game, of course when it's an orchestrated grand standing event, those same people kneel ready to fellate Trump and Pence for showing them what's what. What is the proper way to protest? Maybe in the privacy of their own homes?

I can tell you what the wrong venue is, not at your place of employment. Well, first it was hate cops, than it moved onto racial inequality, then it was about Trump, now apparently its about the anti-kneelers. Basically, lets sum it up -- they hate white people.

ESPN's Jamele Hill Urges Fans To Boycott Anti-Kneeling NFL Advertisers | Zero Hedge

Anyone can justify anything -- doesn't mean its going to work and everyone is going to buy the bull****. If one has a cause, I get it -- this isn't one but I at least I get when a person has one. Half these punks are now standing up, heck, they didn't even get to missing 1 paycheck.
