The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

1. Just plain stupid. Of course there is a protest. You responding more than all other posters combined in this thread acknowledges that although have spent 2/3 of your posts in a thread about the protest saying there isn't a protest....

2. Somewhere around 50% of the American public is buying. To say otherwise is to ignore the obvious, but you're good at that.

3. So, don't protest at work. Don't protest on your own time. Basically, shut up darkie and consider yourself lucky.

There isn't a protest --- its a bunch of grown clowns acting like children that want to be pandered. If you think otherwise, go ahead -- no one really cares about whatever the day of the week grievance they have. Next week they'll be protesting the red M&Ms weren't taken out of the M&M, that isn't a protest either.

If that is the way you want to put the rest of it fine with me -- the reality is everyone has a boss. Hiding behind color doesn't always work.

They look like clowns, and I have even less respect for the ones that are now standing -- gutless grand standers.

Just a little common sense advice -- you work for someone you are always on THE CLOCK whether you are getting paid or not. I would think even a very simple minded person would easily grasps this concept. Most employers wouldn't take any of this stuff for a second, they'll fire you and then maybe think about it.

Not necessarily true. If you are under contract, work for a union or in a state that protects the rights of employees then you have far more rights.

However, that really wasn't my point. The point was is that a good many people felt that protesting was okay, but they didn't want it commingled with their football. The players should protest on their own time. So now, when Jamele does just that... you come back with it's always the employers time. So, the whole protest on your own time was really just a bs statement in an attempt to make it seem like you were being fair minded and not simply judging them based upon race.

Congratulations, you're such a good person.

I told my wife a long time ago, never buy the cheapest ticket to an sec football. Good rule of thumb to avoid folks that cant have a conversation without calling someone an mfer

And again, this little exchange says nothing about me....

Wow, no it says you should probably rethink your strategy of calling another person an mfer. And the fact that you dont see that says even more.

I was once told by someone that cussing is the best way to get a point across when someone wont listen. He now sees that all it does it make him look like an idiot and destroy any good debate he might have had.

I think it's hysterical - more of your feigned outrage and hypocrisy on display.

You whine about this:

And the next day you say this:

LOL, don't ever change man. This forum needs a Gilligan.

Wow. Insert golf clap. You'd make a great detective.

ESPN has suspended Jamelle Hill for 2 weeks. Will she be paid? Hill also once referred to Boston Celtics fans as Nazis. How can ESPN continue to employ that bigot.

Yeah, im sure neither of us care too much. But i am glad i can go through life without referring to another person as a mfer.

With the posters on the PF, there is a very strong negative correlation between the number of curse words used and the strength of the argument. The internet tough guy persona is very prevalent and fluctuates between being funny and just plain sad.

Now that you have shamed me into it, I'll make a concerted effort to change my ways. I'll use this as an opportunity to make a public apology to LG for using such fowl language. He has never brought anything like this upon himself, thankfully he has such a standup guy like you to look out for him.

Forgive me.

They're fine when she calls the president a white supremacist, but when she goes after advertisers, they draw the line

Steph Curry won't go to the White House. I hope when he was in China he was equally troubled with their human rights.

Wayyyyyyyyyyy overdue. ESPN drew a line in the sand a while back in regards to their employees and their public- personal/political opinions. ESPN let Jamele go over that line about 3 offenses too late. After the first time they should've taken some sort of action, now they've let it get far enough where it's embarrassing on their network.

If you're going to have rules all have to abide by them not just the ones you disagree with. This shows favoritism and intolerance to one side which is the definition of bigotry.

If you don't understand what I said you are just as dumb as she is. So... let me get this right, this ESPN employee is now protesting. I think ESPN just protested her. :eek:lol:

Access Denied

There is no protest with the players, people not watching ESPN and NFL, now that is a protest. :eek:lol:

If you still can't figure this out -- maybe you should think harder, or not.

A little consistency helps at least give the impression they aren't political-motivated shills

Absurdly attacking the messenger, again. Protesting the unequal treatment of black people in the United States means you have to then protest all human rights abuses all over the world, otherwise you're inconsistent. That's insane.

Oh the hell it isn't.

What's the right venue?

You people crack me up. They aren't protesting the flag. They aren't protesting dead soldiers. They aren't protesting veterans. They are protesting perceived racial inequalities. Now, the white conservative bloc wants to frame it as protests against America. It's insane. Don't bother discussing the issue. Tell them that they should be grateful that they live here and make a bunch of money. Republicans were outraged when Obama made his "you didn't make it" comment, but apparently that applies to black athletes.

When should they protest? Blacks have been told that marching isn't the appropriate way. Sitting during the anthem is not the right way. Despite the fact that kneeling was suggested by a veteran as a way to show respect while still protesting... not the proper way either. People just don't want to see political statements at a football game, of course when it's an orchestrated grand standing event, those same people kneel ready to fellate Trump and Pence for showing them what's what. What is the proper way to protest? Maybe in the privacy of their own homes?

Now you are just being DUMB.

I did not say they were protesting the flag.

I did not say they were protesting dead soldiers.

I did not say they were protesting veterans.

I did not say it was a protest against America.

You built at least 4 strawmen to take your faux liberal outrage on.

I did say what they're doing during a ceremony designed to show respect, at the very least disrespects those who died for their freedoms.

Didn't say they were protesting anything.

I know what it's about, no one who reads or listens to news could be ignorant of the BLM issue.

Myself and many, many tbousands of liberal and conservative folk choose not listen when they choose to disrespect those who died for their freedoms. And we damn well DO see it as disrespect, no matter what color of lipstick you pick to paint that pigs lips with.

And the right venue? Many.
Press conference whether for one player or a whole team off the top of my head. Another could be gathering as many players who care to participate in one location and (with a permit) marching to some significant site of the BLM movement.

Nope, it's not just conservatives opposed to whats going on during the anthem.

I would say use your head, but...

There are a few different ways to approach this. It seems like, instead of noting that a lot of people support the players and thinking about why that is, there is a large contingent of people simply looking for reasons why the protest is bull****, or looking for excuses to ignore it. That's how you get "Well, Curry isn't protesting in China, so this protest is invalid!"
