The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

That's insane. It is only viewed that way by people who liked the divide that was in place.

The democratic message is there should not be a divide between minority and white, gay and straight, poor and rich, woman and man. Right wing conservatives viewed that as very divisive. Ironic.....

You haven’t been paying attention to the message of your own party.

What you responded to is absolutely correct.

Trump is one of the biggest hypocrites that has ever existed -- who better to expose the hypocrisy? What he is doing is genius in its simplicity, he collects information when he is doesn't have a weakness to expose he starts talking or tweeting, once he has what he wants he attacks it -- sometimes with brutal honesty. I don't vote -- the people that still think he is a dotard, the joke is on them.

The only way to beat Trump is to be honest
, which is a real problem for most of the people in DC and much of the world as well. If you are being honest to others and yourself -- Trump can't hurt you. If you are lying to others or yourself -- well, you better hope he doesn't start tweeting about you.

He constantly lies, so I fail to see how honesty is a weapon. He makes up his own" truth" and his hardcore base laps it up.

I said he is one of the biggest hypocrites to every exist -- I never said he spoke the Truth. However, if you are not completely honest and genuine he will expose you, if you are in his sights. His power comes from others being dishonest with themselves, with others or their message. The only way for a person to take his power is too be 100% completely honest and forthright -- all these false people fold like a $2 crack whore in withdrawals.

If you didn't hate him, you would more clearly see why he is effective.

I think he's exploiting it and showing his true colors and that of some of the right.

You still think he's racist?

One thing Trump has done so far is show the true colors of the left and the right. Which this brings a point that honestly you and others have yet to grasp.

And that point is we truly have an independent in the White House. We said for years we needed someone without party loyalty to get what was needed done. And guess what? We got it. He's showing how inept the GOP in Congress is along with showing how childish the DNC is. But make no mistake, he's working both sides of the aisle at the moment. And shining a flashlight on the warts on both sides.

Such things got him elected. And will get him reelected in 2020 if people keep screaming about him crayoning the walls. People like Corker are doing more to get him reelected than any PAC out there. And Trump's not spending a dime.

I don't know if HE is a racist. I do know cultivated that portion of his base to get elected. My main issues with him is that he is a petty little man that cannot ignore any slight no matter how small. I find him borish and unfit to be president.

I was pleased when he reached across the aisle to accomplish a debt deal. He needs to do it more often. The right seeks to justify every petty tweet as a calculated move and the left seeks to read more into each tweet and comment than is there, but they are not as defensible as the right suggests nor as objectionable as the left makes them. As with most things the truth is somewhere in the middle.

However, Trump's middle is somewhere between not defensible and really objectionable. Not a good look in my mind.

Hm. The Truth is, DC is a cesspool, there is no middle to that. Sometimes things need to be destroyed so that proper growth can continue. I'm sure Rome back in the day looked very similar, the only question is for me -- whether the cycle is coming to an end or whether it will continue for a bit.

I think what Trump is - he is the hypocrisy detector, who better to detect those things.

Trump works in deception -- people still think he is a dotard. He invites them into the trap, they take the trap and they get butchered, rinse and repeat. Same thing the Roman Army use to employ - over and over and over. He uses the deception that he is weak in the center -- once the enemy enters, its a death trap. (see top right)

So, what looks like having really thin skin and melting down every time he’s criticized is actually a calculated plan to expose hypocrisy.

Trump supporters will find the “genius” in literally anything he does. He could say he supports Nazis and some here would say, “It makes liberals mad. Brilliant move”

I think you are speaking to me. I can't say I am a "Trump support", more like an observer. What he is doing is exposing the hypocrisy, that's pretty much it at this stage.

Its the same thing he has been doing for 2-3 years, rinse and repeat, maybe just maybe you are not as smart as you think you are. If you think he is a dotard, the joke is most probably on you.

Agree he is petty and boorish.

Doesn't make him unfit to be President though.

I wouldn't be so quick to lump all the "right" into justifying his Tweets. Nor would I say the entire "left" overreacts whenever he says dumb ****. However, that's what gets blasted all over the news when it does happen.

There is a comfortable middle that doesn't care/doesn't read. So long as the stock market keeps getting better and the jobs market keeps pushing upwards, they just won't care. And that same middle is quietly happy seeing both parties getting egg on their face for being self serving hacks only collecting a paycheck.

The fact that you think that what he is doing is some kind of victory is sad.

He is attacked or even just a perceived attack. He lashes out with personal insults of little to no substance. He claims victory. Wash, rinse and repeat. It is borish and counter productive, but his supporters continue to lap it up... so wash, rinse and repeat.

I don’t think he’s stupid, he just cares way way too much about criticism

Nah, it was in reference to my post.

Of course, had he wanted to have a discussion about it, he would have quoted me directly.

It was in response to a general attitude that I’ve seen several times, most recently in Saluki’s post but not limited to just him. I hadn’t read yours, tbh

Kind of ironic that you describe this group as "doesn't read."

Anyhoo, not everything that is good for the market or jobs is good for the long haul.

Also, we are on the same growth pace as we were on under Obama... I was under the impression that we were getting crushed although my income and investments went up steadily post recession. (Truthfully, my income rose during the recession)

Well, I actually think his stuff on the NFL worked too well -- meaning people won't be underestimating him as much. He laid a perfect trap, they bit and he hooked himself a big fish. The problem is, all the other big fish were watching. He'll probably have to start speaking in Trump speak so that people start to think he is a dotard again. :)

Extremely telling you cherry picked that part out of the post. I said "don't care/didn't read" because a large portion of the average American crowd doesn't GAF what Trump Tweets. Or his tiff with the NFL, CNN, DNC, Paris Agreement, etc. They care about their wallet getting fatter and that's what's happening at the present moment.

But it was happening during Obama at the same pace. What happened to that pace being unacceptable?

Nah, you opened yourself up because you phrased it as doesn't care/ doesn't read.

Not NFL related, but still funny as hell. :eek:lol: I'm crying over here.

He counterpunches, in this case firing a shot at Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who reportedly called his boss a moron:

"I think it's fake news, but if he did that, I guess we'll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win."

lol, it's amazing how impressed you are with this buffoon.

I'm guessing it lies somewhere between wishful thinking and delusion.

If you don't get it, the joke is most probably on you. Literally, if you haven't figured what he is and has been doing -- you need to stay in the Tic Tac Toe room with the NFL players.

That's the problem, though. To me, he's principally interested in making himself look like a winner and "trapping" those who disagree with him in order to make them look like losers. I don't think compromise is high on his list of priorities. His approach worked to get him elected, so I don't really blame him, I just don't think it's going to end well.

EDIT: And if his approach is "you're a winner if you agree with me and a loser if you don't," I think it's hard to sell him as some kind of unifying force.
