The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Articles: This Marine Takes a Knee against the NFL

..."I have the personal luxury of knowing and seeing exactly where freedom originates and also where it is symbolized in both the flag and the National Anthem. That's why I've already disinvested. I also know that Jeff, Pat, and Jeb would return the favor if it had been I and not they who died. That's why it matters.

Might I suggest that the NFL knee-takers and the NFL owners protest on their own time? Otherwise, they have the freedom to protest on my time, and I have the freedom not to watch them do so. You see, that's how it works, and it's so much bigger than a damned game."...

Plenty of vets agree with me for exactly the same reason.

I will make an earthy Haggis from your innards, along with neeps and tatties , and serve it with a fine Spanish Tempranillo, aged in oak casks, and tasting of bright red berries, wood spice, and vanilla. The sweet berry fruit will create the right counterpoint to the rustic, gamey flavor of your poisoned internal organs. Afterward, I will sip Glenmorangie whiskey from your hardened liver and necrotic kidneys. Dilly dilly.

This is the finest thing you've ever posted. Well done.

He does..... the majority is on the flag side of things and the reaction by people is worse(more in your face than anything he said)

Majority of the fan base* is on a made up side* which serves as a non sequitur of a conversation in which neither the President nor his supporters are willing to engage.

I don't think it's a win in any case of him successfully stirring up **** if you look at his approval ratings, which I'll add are by far the lowest in modern Presidential history through this point.

Kid Rock, the swimsuit companies, and Budweiser aren't honoring jack squat. It's a marketing scheme. Therefore, they're exploiting the flag and what it stands for. Hell, A-B isn't even an American owned company. Half those bikinis are manufactured in third world countries. Kid Rock probably doesn't give two ****s about America.

And from almost all accounts, these players aren't dishonoring the flag. It has nothing to do with the flag. The flag is a red herring conjured by right wingers and Trump nut-huggers to inject emotional appeals into the whole discussion and drown out whatever message any of these players might actually be attempting to convey.

Why do they chose to kneel then during the national anthem. If it has nothing to do with patriotism or protesting the the national anthem, thereby protesting their country, then why choose to do it during the national anthem? Do it like before the anthem, or after the anthem, or better than that, do it on their own dime instead of the owners and therefore the fans.

Also, why are they kneeling? I can make the same argument that it's all marketing, just for attention. All it is is for show. They really don't have any intention of changing jack squat. They're just a bunch of attention seeking whores that piss away more money in a month than most average Americans will make in a lifetime.

Also, I wonder where these jack wads were last year when their saviour Obama was president? Oh sure a handful did but not on this scale. This has nothing to do with police injustice. It's nothing more than being butt hurt that their stalinista Hillary lost.

Kaepernick it was all about the flag, anthem, and the country - he clearly does hate the United States which is why he is always wearing T-shirts with brutal dictators on them. And other players were joining him like Eric Reid. To say its not about the flag or the country is a bunch of BS, nobody is buying it.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color.*To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Then you have the other group like the stupid dude from the Seahawks, basically made up a story about the cops - oh yeah, he loves his country, I am sure everyone believes that BS. I love the outrage of his teammates calling him out for fabricating a story. /s

Than you had the Orange Man haters, they think they are going to not show the Man by not standing -- you guys cool, everyone thinks their are bunch of pansies.

Oh now, lets not stop there - now we have an even large racist group showing that apparently believe in racist black power scene - yeah guys why not have a team called the Racist Black Panthers.

The conclusion is pretty simply for many, you have a bunch of racists pansies that think brutal dictators are cool, which completely hate not only America but probably the white people in it. The knife usually cuts both ways - which I think the NFL is not even close to feeling yet. There is nothing for the former fans/taxpayers to lose - its a win/win.

That is what I don't get - its really about the intent. I mean I have the U.S. flag on a cup, its displayed the wrong way. So?

Hahaha it’s about intent now? Then don’t ignore the kneelers when they tell you what their intent is. If it’s about intent, you have even less reason to ignore their stated intent and substitute your own like Orangedog or whoever is doing. You’re starting to tie yourself in knots, predictably

The intent has always been clear - first it was they hate the country, than it was about a guy that LIED about the cops (no outcry from his teammates), than it was about people crying about The Orange Man, and now the intent is show people that they are racist black militants. Nothing is being miscommunicated - its real clear for most.

If you don't like people's perceptions - too bad.

His poll numbers looked bad last Oct also.

What are you asking me? He said people weren't offended. I am saying they were. Answer your own irrelevant questions.
And I say bullshiite. The vast majority of people weren't "offended". If they truly were as deeply "offended" as they are acting now, this country has far deeper racial issues than we are even peripherally discussing. Some people are LOOKING for something to be "offended" about.

oooh ooooh, there is a statue of white man on a horse that fought on the side of the South. And the South was for SLAVERY. And since the South was for slavery, and I am black, I have another reason to be "offended", and try to get something back from the white man.

Should we have statues honoring the Confederacy in 2017, or no?

If the answer is no, and you are defending them anyway because you don't want to give people who you deem "too offended" the satisfaction of getting what they want, that seems petty.

Said differently, if "PC culture" offends you more than the Confederacy does, you might want to reexamine your priorities. If it's wrong, who gives a **** whether people started being offended at the appropriate time or not?

I actually do not disagree with this. I think I said it before that I have a stars and stripes bandana in my drawer. I have always been very uncomfortable wearing it. To me, it just doesn't seem right.

I don't agree with your assertion of Kid Rock's caring for America. He knows where his bread is buttered.

Like I sad earlier, America is becoming one big pu$$y. Your post confirms that. History doesn't offend me. I was not a slave owner. I had distant relatives that were, and you will probably be offended to know that I am not ashamed of that. I don't care either.

You probably think soccer is a difficult game too compared to football

I couldn't care less if statues of Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin, Lenin, Treyvon, and Timothy McVeigh were side by side in the public square. They couldn't possibly do anything to me.

But you're telling other people whether they should care.

That doesn't answer the question of whether or not we should have them.
