The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

We should have whatever we want. Freedom of choice. If someone gets upset by a statue, they are weak.

And we are reaching the point where we don't "want" Confederate statues; your way of showing respect for that freedom of choice is to say everyone is weak and our country is dying.

That's almost as clever as calling Florida the "Gators."

"We" meaning Americans, at least the city and state governments that voted to remove the Confederate statues.

Lol quite the opposite, I'm glad we're trending away from glorifying Confederates. The butthurt ones are the people saying America is going down the drain because it's not agreeing with their views.

Lol. You’re one of the most butthurt people here. You have been. You also blindly support the butthurt players. Good stuff.

Most people today are weak, and the country is dying because of it.
I retire in 8 years. I figure by that time the Millenial socialists will have to start paying taxes so I am voting full on Dimocrat so they can support me in my golden years. It's gonna be glorious. Free medical. I'm going back for some free college. They are gonna feed me. Awesome.

How much did the Iraq & Afghanistan wars cost? Who voted for that? Say what you want about entitlement programs, but at least some American citizens benefit from them.
I'm not against helping people. I am steadfastly against supporting them for life when there is SOMETHING they can do for that help. There are very few people that cannot sit on ass and file forms or make phone calls.... SOMETHING.. Hell everyone can run a computer. Why should anyone be given free food/rent/healthcare for doing absolutely nothing in return? There was a great DEMOCRAT once that said something about doing something for your country rather than asking what your country can do for you? What happened to THOSE democrats?

Oh yeah, his successor began a war on poverty.

Hey, I don't really disagree. I'm just commenting on the irony of calling the other party socialists when your own (presumably) spends trillions on a losing proposition that absolutely no one benefits from.

Not sure a big military has much to do with socialism. And I don't really affiliate with any one particular party. I have voted Republican more often because the Dimocrats are such dip****s.

But you're telling other people whether they should care.

That doesn't answer the question of whether or not we should have them.

And you are telling me I should not care about someone disrespecting my fallen Vietnam war brothers; and all America's fallen soldiers-whether from the Revolution or those 2017 fallen heros who are to date:

Staff Sergeant Aaron R. Butler
Hostile fire - IED attack
Nangarhar Province

Specialist Christopher Michael Harris
Hostile fire - IED attack Kandahar

Sergeant Jonathon Michael Hunter
Hostile fire - IED attack
Kandahar

Private 1st Class Hansen B
Kirkpatrick
Hostile fire - indirect fire
Helmand

Sergeant Eric M. Houck
Hostile fire - small arms fire
Nangahar Achin district

Sergeant William M. Bays Hostile fire - small arms fire Nangahar Achin district

Corporal Dillon C. Baldridge
Hostile fire - small arms fire Nangahar Achin district

Sergeant Joshua P. Rodgers,
Hostile fire - small arms fire Southern Nangarhar province

Sergeant Cameron H. Thomas
Hostile fire - small arms fire Southern Nangarhar province

Staff Sergeant Mark R. DeAlencar
Hostile fire - small arms fire
Nangarhar

Sergeant 1st Class Robert R. Boniface
Non-hostile
Logar

So NFL players and those who support them like you want me to disregard their blatant disrespecting of a ceremony that by it's very nature honors all American war dead.

BUT

You get to be offended by statues over 1-1/2 centuries ago most folk didn't know existed.

You are displaying the height of hypocrisy.

Out of one side of your mouth you are telling me, and the millions who agree with me, what we can't be offended by. And out of the other side of your mouth you are now telling us we have to accept not only disrespecting the fallen, but the offense you take over whatever is your issue du jour.

No.

I was under the assumption that the government controls the military, and the taxpayers pay for it. How is that different from socialized healthcare?
