The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Apparently, there is one bill in the Senate and two in the House to eliminate tax benefits on stadium construction, not sure how much that would hurt the teams as in $$$. Interesting the Senate bill was introduced during the Summer.

Titles - S.1342 - 115th Congress (2017-2018): Eliminating Federal Tax Subsidies for Stadiums Act of 2017 | Congress.gov | Library of Congress

Probably, let all this add up and eventually just add a bill to remove the anti-trust exemption, and let the NFL figure all this out. Remove all the government ads from the TV sponsors should probably be the government next step of business and end the fly overs as well.

Old guys are cool, but they don't win at everything. I'll suddenly become better at everything when I'm old? That's not the way the world works. Some things were better. Some things are now better. Some things you're better at than me and vice versa. You can live in denial and pretend like you can kick a young guy's ass at everything, but it's kinda sad that you feel the need to fool yourself like that.

We are talking about this because old people were talking about why they think football used to be better.

Most people like you think they are smarter because they don't know what they don't know. Maybe in a new factory your ilk would be on top of your game.
I work in an old factory that produces a Billion dollars a year in sales. I'm an old fart, but I guarantee you I know the latest and greatest in technology. I see young farts that think they know more than I do every day.
I'll put my knowledge against yours any day.

First you accuse me of being the kind of douche that thinks he's smarter than other people, which I'm not even sure why this is part of the conversation. Then you proclaim that you are smarter than other people.

:good!:

I guess because you know factories then that is enough to conclude that old guys kick young guys' ass at everything. Factories? LMAO, how insecure are you?

Now tell me how fit you are?

Now brag about all the ladies you bed?

How good of a fisherman are you? Everyone's curious!

Experience is the best teacher, and if one hasn't experienced two different things, they have no basis of comparison. You and I have seen old time football and NASCAR, versus current football and NASCAR. The old guys and cars were not stronger or faster, but better in ways that one would have to experience to understand. In my mind, big money has hurt most sports in a big way.

I didn't call you a douche. I just said that I have a lot of experience and most people your age don't respect that. Be that as it may, I'm about ready to turn the reigns over to the next generation and let them have a go at it.

I didn't say you called me a douche and that's not what you said at all.

I agree totally that most people his age don't respect experience. Huff has argued with me about they way things were in the 1950's and 60's, basically telling me that I didn't know what I was talking about, even though I lived through it, and he read about it in a book or saw a tv documentary.

From listening to him, you would think that blacks were in chains, working the fields, and women weren't allowed to do anything other than cook and make babies.

Well I was born in the 50's and grew up in the 60's. I've seen a lot more than Huff ever has. But I'm fat dumb and old so my life is over.

I was born the last month of the 1940's. At some point it dawns on you that your old man got a helluva lot smarter from the time you were 18 until the time you turned 35.

Meh, Huff is an arrogant moron. A lot of people see this. He’ll read an article on something and then all of a sudden he’s an expert. It’s cute.

I never said anything about you. You said you're smarter than me. I didn't talk about you. Are you on your period?

I said that old guys are better at some stuff and young guys are better at other stuff, which seems like a pretty reasonable position.

That convo is separate from this one. I'm saying if you are a fan of football, objectively that was a good game. I don't care what teams you like or what league you like. If a game has big defensive plays, a healthy amount of scoring, several lead changes, and an exciting finish, that is a great game.

You're not man enough to simply say "my bad, I didn't actually watch the game". You triple down on this stupid idea that it wasn't a good game and you're trying to bring up old conversations because you got nothing else.

You are certainly a strange one. Where did I say it wasn’t a good game? The only part I saw was Lynch going after a ref. It might have been the most amazing game of all time, I have no idea because I didn’t watch. You liked it, that’s great.

My money would be on the bigger, stronger, and faster guys. Wouldn't even be close.

That’s what I’m saying. It’s ridiculous that this is even being debated.

Today’s players would dominate the line of scrimmage. That’s how you win. A lack of headsets isn’t going to change anything about that.

If you think a 1960s NFL team would beat a 2017 NFL team, you don’t have any “knowledge” about football.

100% agree on the money. It’s destroyed NASCAR and doing the same to the other pro sports.
