The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

The NFL can legislate whatever that want, I'm not arguing that.

But the people defending the NFL over this are hilarious.

I'm all for private business setting their own rules for employees. I despise when the government does it.

Shocking to see how few people in this forum value freedom of speech.

Actually, not shocking.

I personally want cameras everywhere in the country to see who doesn't stand for the anthem. These people should be kicked out of the country.

MAGA

Ignorance is bliss.....

Outside of Trump today suggesting leaving the country, there isn't a serious threat on freedom of speech with regards to this issue. The league has the choice to make whatever standard they want to hold their employees to. And likewise, the fans have the option to buy or not buy NFL tickets and merchandise based on this issue.

My issue is that this is an emotionally charged issue, on both sides, that revolves around a piece of cloth. First world problems. We have far bigger issues to worry about than an American flag or Confederate flag or LGBT flag for that matter.

Meanwhile, we have the Constitution being threatened and violated all the time, yet the flag wavers or the defenders of the kneelers freedom of speech do diddly squat and wouldn't crush a grape.

Bro, Sammy doesn't make very good points, why do you have to make up arguments for him? Can't you just address thd points he's actually making?

Vfj has the right idea (for once).

Huff I honestly see no valid point to really respond to. A claim was made about a non government entity infringing on freedom of speech. I just responded to that. Plain and simple.

What kind of grape? Cabernet? I'd crush those all day long.

So Ras I’m just gonna call you a bigot. To you our flag is “just a piece of cloth”. Fine that’s your opinion. To many others it’s a symbol of our nation and it most definitely is a symbol our military has strong feelings about.

To me the flag is a symbol of our country. Think of it as a sovereign trademark. To you it has no value. To me there is national recognition and pride. To each of us our own.

I submit this. I respect our flag. I fly it according to law. BUT I am 100% against a constitutional amendment on flag burning. That indeed infringes in 1A to me. Now if somebody did it I’m front of me I’d have some personal strive on how to respond. But I recognize their right. If it’s a foreign national doing it there’s no question. One of us is going to get an ass whipping.

So fine to you it’s s piece of cloth. We hear you. We disagree also and we owe you no further explanation. So how about STFU preaching to us in a condescending fashion how we should feel about that cloth huh?

In this case the dollar club is setting the rules for the NFL owners. The poor billionaire owners must be feeling an itch of losing some money.

You have more reverence for that flag than you do the law of the land. It's really easy to demonize someone and get their 2 Minutes of Hate over a flag. But the hard work and heavy lifting of protecting the Constitution seems too much for the most patriotic among us. Right wing virtue signaling is all this amounts to. "Look at how big of a patriot I am... No one loves this country more than me!"

Incorrect. I in fact referenced the law of the land and my respect for it and how it would affect my reaction in my reply to you.

And you’re still preaching in a condescending fashion about an object you yourself profess to have no feelings for. Who’s the conflicted one here hmm?

I guess you are correct. I am becoming that which I am criticizing. This issue absolutely has no effect on my daily life whatsoever. Why bring myself down to their level?

I know you won’t believe me but I have no problem with you Ras. And I still liked your other avatar better. 😬

And when I bang heads with you I know I need to have my A game. If anything you’re normally fairly consistent and you know your topics. But on this matter based on your stance on the flag I really don’t see that you have any real flesh in the game so why keep up the full court press on it?

Like Ras, I have no skin in the game. Kneel, stand, dance, don't attend, it doesn't matter to me. Many veterans have expressed the same ambivalence. If they aren't offended, I certainly shouldn't be. The NFL has every right to force them to stand. A business should have that discretion. It's not an issue of free speech at all.

What draws me to this issue is the intensity of emotion from the individuals opposed to the protests. The same individuals who constantly berate half of America for being easily offended is somehow, beyond all expectations, managing to act more even more offended than those they make fun of. It's one thing to disagree with the players' opinions and methods, it's another to rant, rave, throw tantrums and declare you'll never watch the NFL again. Over this? The flag? A protest in which the players aren't directing towards the military at all?

America is becoming far too PC. It's one of the things modern day conservatives I feel are spot on with in today's society. But this overreaction proves that, for many who profess to be against the PC police, it's just more of the same. If one side is offended, they're pitiful, emotional creatures. If I'm offended, well dammit, I obviously have a right to be!

Two sides of the same coin.

People still seem to miss this point. You can agree with the decision the league made and still be critical of the sanctimonious outrage by some of the "fans". I put "fans" in quotes because some of these people were probably not serious NFL fans to begin with. They are just using this as an opportunity to virtue signal.

Interesting... I love you too.

Ras you were acting like a bigot and pretty damn condescending. I meant it I have no problem with you. But I also said you wouldn’t believe me

Perhaps I should have said acting like a bigot. Admittedly I was getting irked though and as I said earlier today really sucked.

Peace out.

You said "dance monkey dance" to players who are protesting racial inequality and you have the nerve to call someone a bigot? We all gave you a pass, too.
