The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Hmm.. Why hasn't Kap looked north for employment? Would make sense. Play in the CFL for awhile. If he has the talent and it shines through, it could open the door for a return to the NFL. Warren Moon and Doug Flutie both played in the CFL then signed to an NFL team. As is, it seems he's more interested in making a political statement than actually playing football. That alone would make me hesitant to want him on my team.

Indeed.

Maybe there is a tariff on American players now?

There's no collusion to not sign him. He's doing it to himself. He's too big of a distraction. His play isn't worth the media circus he'll bring to the team.

NFL owners want to win. They'll roster whoever can help them do that until that players distractions outweigh their contributions.

The NFL is not like a typical company. It’s essentially a 50/50 partnership between the owners and the NFLPA. Hence the CBA and the damn near 50/50 cut in profits and employee salary. All he has to prove is that a few owners discussed banning him. I am not saying it happened, but those arguing they should be able to hire who they want don’t really see reality.

The Cowboys were able to rationalize the locker room cancer that is Greg Hardy in order to help us win. So yeah if the benefits outweigh the costs somebody would have signed him. I agree with that.

That Greg Hardy case was a total sham. Anyone with a brain could see that was a bogus domestic violence charge.

LaVarr Ball spoke today siding with the NFL. I’m sure the NFL was really grateful for his support.

Oh I think he beat the **** outta her and I think he’s screwed up in the head. But she got paid ( I think anyway) and recanted. And she wasn’t the most credible witness in the first place. I do agree with you that the NFL stance was a sham and there was no legal case. But make no mistake Hardy is a POS and locker room cancer... but that isn’t illegal and again JJ thought he could help the Cowboys win so he took the chance.

What reality? No one is required to hire him.

They can’t actively decide not to as a group either.

Why not? It's business. At this point, with viewership declining, any owner hiring Kap is shooting himself in the foot.
Any team that hires Kap would be driving fans away from the stadium, not bring them in.

Folk like me, many hundreds of thousands, are fed up with what we see as disrespect during a ceremony that among other ideals, shows our respect of and gives honor to those valiant soldiers of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Reserves, and all others who have given the ultimate sacrifice for America to be free.

Is there an issue in America where contact with the police results in death? Yes, for all races All Lives Matter.

But out of what should be common respect the place to protest that issue is not during this ceremony.

What if I came to some black family's loved one's funeral after placing a 'Readers Write' piece in the newspaper and took a knee. I would deserve the whooping I'd get for trying to make that ceremony about my politics, even it it was about wrongful death.

I held young boys in my arms as they died in Vietnam. Virtually everytime I'm in a stadium I have tears in my eyes during the ceremony. I am remembering and honoring them. Three young Civil Rights workers were murdered and buried in an earthen dam in Mississippi, many black men and women gave their lives or were injured to end segregation.
All black men and women and children who struggled under slavery, who fought and died for freedom in the Civil War, who served in every war since. Indeed, every one of good will of every race who has helped make America safe and free is honored during that ceremony.

I don't have any respect for those who want to choose make the Anthem and Flag ceremony about something else. The percent of death in encounters with police is a real issue, however small, for all races as ALL LIVES MATTER. But address it somewhere else. The players could have easily donated enough money to buy full page commentarys, hold press conferences, make it NEWS. Got it in front of the nation in a respectful way. They didn't.

Kap, and those who are pushing this totally killed what interest hundreds of thousands had left in the NFL. It's entertainment and that's all it is. I don't pay to see some wanna-be parade an issue during time I choose for leisure. They're killing their own golden goose........OK

bye bye NFL.

I think the subtle point is that the NFL owners cannot get together as a group and say "I won't hire Kap if you won't" and thus 'deny' him a job. That IS discrimination and collusion and I would think illegal 10 ways from Sunday. That being said, unless one of them talks about it, good luck proving said collusion/discrimination ever occurred. Kaperdink **** in his own bed. I do not feel sorry or sympathetic to him or his 'cause' one little bit.

Nice rant btw.

You’ve said goodbye to the NFL about 400 times now. We get it.

Have read the testimony that his wife or girlfriend gave? There was no need to pay her off... her story was bogus.

You’re allowed to discriminate. Hiring is 100% a process of discrimination

At times, yes.

Obama never said anything this stupid though: "if they can't stand for the national anthem, then they need to get out of the country".....is Trump really that stupid? Yes
Are many of Trump's supporters so stupid that they love this talk? Yes

57 States and Charleston, Jacksonville, and Savannah being on the Gulf is pretty ****ing stupid.
