Kneeling during the anthem has been met with reactions ranging from "who gives a crap" to suggestions that the kneelers "shouldn't be in the country".

I fall more in line with the first group.

It's players deciding they don't want to go because Trump is the POTUS that is ruining it. It's their attempts to turn something that should be a great thing into a political statement that is ruining it. Trump hasn't ruined it. That's just your own political bias poking through again. The sad thing is, you're smart enough to know I'm right, just too stubborn to admit it. Another case of demonize Trump no matter what, actual facts be damned.

Players bowed out of the visit for Obama too. Some were even vocal about it. This isn’t new. Trump just throws a tantrum on Twitter about it and recinds the invitation.

Sadly, the narrative that he was shtting on 'Murica drew the loudest screeches and thus prevailed. Because America is full of snowflakes who love to be butthurt over any perceived slight, especially when it involves a stranger and has no real effect on their day to day well being. In this case, it's easier to be whine about ones feels than it is to try and understand why the 'other side' is doing what they were doing. The path of least resistance and all..
