The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

CIC is his given title and though he has ultimate authority over the US Armed Forces, he holds no military rank. Thus, the politician is not a military officer.

You're correct he is not a military officer but just like the Secretary of the Army, Navy, Air Force refuse to render proper honors and see what happens.

I’ll ask this again. What is supposed to be accomplished by protesting at this point? What change is supposed to be brought about? Has anyone actually given answers to these questions? Or is it we just want change just because ?

I’m convinced that a much larger percentage of players than not, don’t actually really care about the protest, but are doing it out of pressure from social media or it being the trendy thing to do.

I agree with your second paragraph. That being said.. Is it worth getting this riled up over? Or are you just looking for something to be outraged about?

I also similarly apply the same theory to said population that is showing all this outrage. Just like the players are following a trend due to social pressure and wanting to look like they care.. I think a large percentage of the people whining and boycotting the NFL are doing the same exact thing. Virtue signalling because this is an easy way to show how patriotic you are.

So a full football team and there's only one guy who is not an attention whore, not good for the sport

I’m not outraged about anything. I’m just trying to understand what is supposed be accomplished. I’m not going to stop watching the NFL, my fantasy teams have given me a little more $ than usual to play with, I’m just wondering now if people actually know what they are protesting or if it’s just another thing brought on by social media.

Classic Trump. Lie, Lie and Lie some more.

Malcolm Jenkins posted this yesterday to his Twitter account...

ESPN stated last night that fewer than FIVE were actually going. Fewer than five would be what, 4.5? Why would he have held an event for the NFL WC's with 4.5 players there. Don't be a moron CWV. Two different issues here.

Everybody is placing the onus on the players. Is it too much to ask of the POTUS to act like an adult?

No, it's not too much to ask. In fact, we shouldn't even have to ask, it should be presumed that the POTUS would act like an adult but it's just not in Trump's DNA.

At the very least a huge missed opportunity

Had they shown up, Trump could have talked their concerns and then lauded them as being respectful all season and really held their purpose up to the American people. Instead they chose to be typical professional athletes and show their collective asses.

What is your point? Because they didn't technically kneel, they shouldn't be upset about Trump's attack on their league and livelihood?

You guys would freak the **** out if Obama had done something like this.

But barry was the groveler in chief. He wouldn't dare offend them.

I think it would be good for the players in this situation to go to the WH and have a face to face conversation with the POTUS. I'm not hating that they aren't and see it as more of a thing they are publically doing to push a point, but going and speaking to the man could net a positive outcome.

Kim K has bigger balls than they do.

Eagles: "You insulted our friends and co-workers and threatened our livelihood, so some of us are going to decline the invitation to your party."

Trump: "Party's over. None of you can come. I'm taking my ball and going home. Be sure to check out twitter where I'll be attacking you some more."

Yeah, both sides look like petulant children.

Some = 58+. Don't ever let facts get in your way Nancy. You never have and probably never will.

Seems to me that after hearing that a large portion of the players were not going to attend, Trump could have simple said, "I look forward to welcoming the Eagle that are planning on being in attendance and would like to reach out to those not attending to reconsider as I am genuinely interested in your view point. Let's have a meaningful discussion."

At that point, Trump has been the bigger man and shifted 100% of the blame to the players who still refused.

At least you got the EAGLE part right but your verb tense is off.
