The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Cop out^^^

Don’t deflect your inability to answer as me improperly “wording” a question. I have been very clear and no one has given an answer to what I asked. That leaves but one conclusion, your argument(s) for the blistered knees holds no weight. If it does hold weight, then faux klansmen should be able to march through Orange Mound, uncontested and unabated, to voice their concerns over an economic measure they disagree with in China. And I’m not talking about their legal right to do anything, as they are legally protected to do it, I’m talking about the uproar and misrepresentations it would receive. That’s the argument you’re making for the wounded knees, that they’re misunderstood and that it’s over “this,” not over “that.” If they’re so misrepresented and misunderstood, then there wouldn’t be as much as an audible mouse fart if this scenario took place, right?

You nor anyone else making the argument for the kneelers would stand for that ****, and we both know it. Cacophonous shrieks of, “eff these damn racist, divisive, red hat wearing fother muckers,” would abound.

Ultimately, I’ve laid your hypocrisy at your feet. You know it, I know it, and anyone who reads this knows it. You would’ve been better off saying - meh, this is how I feel, but I can’t answer that. I’d respect that much more than you contorting and twisting what I said, only so you can avoid giving an answer. I get it, you didn’t want to be exposed, but now you have.

The error in all of this is that there would be no way to justify a violent or absurd reaction when it comes to your analogy anymore than it should be justified to behave violently or absurdly against the "blistered knees". In neither case is the reaction of those that are allegedly offended justified.

The fans play a part in this. The fans are cops... or at least most of them are. The fans are the ones that are on these juries that acquit cops for some of the most outlandish of acts. The fans are the ones that vote in these politicians that create these stupid azz laws that require the goon squads in blue to enforce them.

Good grief the conjecture in this post. Smh.

Wasn’t sure if this thread or meme thread was appropriate

🤔...You're just a bit crazy aren't you?

I actually have two issues with the knee takers.

1. Regardless of the venue, and regardless of the fact that they have a right to protest; for millions of Americans doing anything other that at least standing in respectful silence during an anthem and flag ceremony shows a very real disrespect for those who have fought for, and particularly those who died fighting for, the kneelers freedoms and especially their right to protest. Just because they say they don't mean any disrespect does not in any way mitigate the amount of disrespect those who take issue with their kneeling during the ceremony feel.

2. They tell us they are kneeling because, "Black Lives Matter". That is almost as much of an insult as kneeling.

ALL LIVES MATTERPeriod.

All that argueing for Kap & the kneelers does is make me more and more reflect on my decision to continue viewing the NFL kneeling 'movement' as disrespect, and even misguided, in that not just Black Lives Matter. What an insult when ALL LIVES MATTER. I'm certain millions of others arrive at a reinforced negative opinion of "Kap and the Kneelers". The NFL approval rating wouldn't be crashing so hard otherwise. Continuing with this will only reinforce their opinions.

Others say we are 'conflating' seperate issues and you say our reactions aren't justified.

No, no we're not conflating issues.

Oh yes. Our reactions are totally justified.

What does that have to do with anything? How would voting help?

It's a reference to you stating that fans vote in stupid politicians that create laws blah, blah, blah. Players can vote in elections too. If they really want to get political, they can find candidates that share their views and funnel some of that money they make into campaign support. There are other avenues they can explore that don't involve "protesting" during the anthem.

Again, with D-Day having been June 6th, and D-Day commemorations occuring in Europe and America all this week, I still see this meme as extremely illustrative and fitting. I only wish I had one for Korea, Vietnam, The Gulf Wars, Afghanistan, and Benghazi.

I also don't understand the argument they are drawing attention to police brutality. The MSM is already doing that. Every night I see a new story where police are being questioned about their tactics. And honestly, I'm okay with police being held accountable. I think they should be. There are absolutely times where police abuse their authority, and it should be brought into the light. But kneeling during the anthem does absolutely nothing to accomplish that. Attention was being shifted to the issue well before they started kneeling, which makes their protest kind of pointless. They're trying to draw attention to something already getting attention? Honestly, I guess I really don't know what they're trying to accomplish since the issue was already in the headlines before this started.

Not a single one of those wars had anything to do with the average American's freedoms or liberties.

Not a one of them.

Isn't it quite apparent that they don't have the numbers in their favor? Not by a long shot? So again I ask, what good would voting do?

Ol Son, it aint about feelz.

Facts are:

NFL Ratings Slide 10%, National Anthem Protests Cited As Top Reason 02/07/2018

Many explanations have been given for the falloff in NFL ratings this season, including a backlash among fans to controversy surrounding players who protest by taking a knee during the National Anthem. A nationally representative survey of Americans conducted by Wall Street equities firm UBS finds that, in fact, is the No. 1 reason cited by those who said they watched less NFL coverage this year.

The finding -- part of a survey of 2,000 U.S. consumers conducted by UBS as part of its “Evidence Lab” -- is self-reported, but among those saying they watched less NFL coverage, 50% said they “don’t approve of National Anthem protests.” That’s up from 30% who cited that reason when UBS conducted a similar survey a year ago....sic...

“It is unclear what the long term impact of the Anthem protests will be on NFL viewership,” the UBS analysts concluded in a research note sent to investors today. “It could be argued that this is a temporary headwind for the NFL, however the protests have already impacted two consecutive seasons. Additionally there is no guarantee that viewers who stop watching NFL games because of the protests would return if protests were to stop.”

So, do you think this is blowback from the former NFL fans finding that there is more to life then sitting on ass watching sports all day on Sunday? Or something else?

Cord cutting, mostly. But yeah, people are doing other things. So many options in life these days
