The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Her looking pissed proves nothing.
If I'm a star player and an injury has kept me out of a big game, I'm gonna be pissed because of course I want to be out there. If she were being punished, she'd make a big deal of it IMO. I think she'd call out Trump even more if she got suspended over her previous comments. As much as I dislike any athlete representing the U.S. using their international stage to lambast our country, they're still allowed to do it under the First Amendment.

Wonder if Fred Perry likes what his brand is now associated with

The alt-right’s Proud Boys love Fred Perry polo shirts. The feeling is not mutual.

And this relates to the Nike story how? I know very little about these "Proud Boys", but if they're a hate group that goes around beating on people(like Antifa), then I wouldn't want my product associated with them either. Has nothing to do with Nike spitting on the history of the U.S. Slavery was wrong, but it's only part of our history. I'm not going to forget the accomplishments of great Americans because they lived in an era where slavery existed. This idea that we should be ashamed of our history is ridiculous. It happened, and our nation grew from it.

I think the best response is to drive some dang tanks down Pennsylvania Avenue! LOL! Gotta love it! Local news said it was spending American tax dollars. I'm thinking, "Americans won't mind - Un-Americans will!" .

Everything the government does is funded by American tax dollars.

You think it’s Un-American to be bothered by wasteful government spending?

No. I also think that getting to see what our tax dollars are paying for to protect the rights we are celebrating on Independence day is not a waste of dollars. Now, if Obama had done it on his birthday - THAT would be a waste of our tax dollars.

Am I the only one who thinks this whole thing was orchestrated by Nike and Kapernik together?
That's not too far fetched actually. What I was wondering is when these shoes were supposed to be released. Was it this week? IF that is the case, then I think you are spot on because they would have to have already been manufactured. If THAT was the case, then NIKE would be losing a bunch of money... well.. the wages/material/shipping costs that they paid out... and then eating that all because the world's biggest racist snowflake pointed out something 'potentially' offensive? Naaaaah. I'm not buying that one iota.

If, on the other hand, these shoes were in the design process, then this is nothing other than publicity, although it makes NIKE look anti American imho. I mean good Lord, the Betsy Ross flag is racist?

Or you could be bothered by all of it
Could be, but how many on here actually are? And I get it, you may very well be, but how many on here claiming wasteful spending are only doing it because Trump?

So if you’re getting upset by this flag why aren’t you upset by our current flag. Our current flag is the one that was flying during the 60’s when the civil rights movement was going on and Dr. King was shot. This was a recent time when racism was abundant in American culture and racial clashes happened frequently.

But folks are not upset because that is our current flag and the flag represents the great values of America that gave Dr. King and others the ability to rise up and challenge their government. With this our flag represents a nation where someone is not not merely judged by the color of their skin.

The Betsy Ross flag represents the foundation of our American values. The flag represents the uprising of folks who were oppressed by a tyrant. The flag represents the type of government that was created with the intentions that the government would be by the people and never get so big as to oppress its own. The flag represents folks who wanted to have freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Although there was slavery at the time of the Betsy Ross flag it set the foundation for that slavery to ultimately end and for those people to then be equal with all.

There is a reason the Betsy Ross flag flies at presidential inaugurations. It’s not because we are a racist society but because we are a land of values that gives people freedoms to rise out of oppression of government.

If you believe the Betsy Ross flag is racist you need to start reading history and lose your shortsightedness.
