The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

I don't know what I think about this. He posted pics that (at least used to) violate AR 670-1 but he can't be punished for his political beliefs.

He can while doing it in uniform. And that whole "Conduct Unbecoming an Officer" can come into play with his Twitter rants.

There is such an unbelievable amount of hypocrisy

Saying that professional athletes make way too much money is like saying there are too many ads on TV: it’s a social criticism no one could possibly disagree with. The question isn’t whether they deserve to make so much — the free market has clearly decided they do — but why their decision to protest, plus their occupation, plus their wealth, makes them “spoiled.”

Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were both millionaires, and nobody’s saying they should have kept their mouths shut. Wealth doesn’t equal a lack of genuine political grievance. The well-off founding fathers truly were taxed unfairly and Seahawks player Michael Bennett really did experience police brutality in Las Vegas — and even if they didn’t, isn’t it noble to try to protect others from injustices from which you yourself are shielded? Although America was good to President Trump, he criticized it savagely while claiming to love it on the campaign trail and his supporters hailed him as a true patriot.

In the article, yes, lack of context. The players aren't doing anything and two just because they are players doesn't make them special when they have paying customers.... and when the customers are paying with tax dollars as well, and in most cases in public stadiums and other benefits.

A couple of them just wanted to stick it to The Man, the problem is they want to get paid by The Man... the rest are just dumb pawns.

Good point. You would think someone would have seen this and payed attention to him while he was at WP.

Thomas Jefferson was not a millionaire. He was heavily in debt to British creditors his entire life. He died broke.

smh

So, he is calling the black players SOBs, but not any players of any other race? Man, this is not how you win the public over. He is irrelevant, someone should send him a curiosity text... he is putting a line in the sand like Chris Jackson did... it is most probably a no win situation for him.

I wouldn't call him an idiot, but he is playing checkers and Trump is playing chess. I actually feel sorry for these guys, they have some missed placed anger... and it is affecting them greatly. Trump is in their heads.

Until Trump apologizes to the NFL for hurting their feelings.

The owners/commissioner are their friends today because they coddled them over the weekend... it is very apparent they are in crisis mode, which is why they are looking for a crisis management specialist for employment. Push comes to shove, the owners don't care about their millionaire players, they care about their billion dollar business. I don't see a real easy out right now, but if they can't find one and this continues to roll down hill, I suspect the players are thrown under the bus by the owners.

The players are irrelevant at this stage, generally.

I know this is a thread about the NFL, but the NBA commissioner might want to get on the line with The Lebron. Is this really happening? :eek:lol: Look I mess up all the time typing in the forum, its a whole different level doing this on TV. Wow.

James took the opportunity to seemingly attack the “education” of Trump voters, calling some “uneducated” and claiming they did not understand “what's actually going on in the state of the world right now.” The comments were rambling, so we have transcribed the full answer below (emphasis added):
"I don't think a lot of people was educated. And I think that's one of the biggest problems that we have when it becomes vote time. People are just not educated, on either the individual or what's actually going on in the state of the world right now. Not that particular state, but the state of the world.
I don't think a lot of people are educated, and they make choices and say things that's uneducated. Am I saying that the people of Ohio wasn't educated? Am I saying that some of the other states that voted for [Trump] was uneducated? They could have been, or they could not have been. But that doesn't mean it was the right choice."

Angry Americans are cancelling their Sunday NFL packages with DirecTV and some are receiving refunds after citing anthem protests for their reason.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that DirecTV customer service received a high volume of calls from angry people cancelling their Sunday NFL packages after the anthem protests spiraled out of control. According to a few customers WSJ spoke with, they are getting some refunds.

NFL-owned RedZone which also provides Sunday football games was bombarded by cancellations as well according to the WSJ.
