Personally, I don't care a bit about his marital situation.

But you have to admit that the world's most recognizable athlete and spokesperson getting beaten to a pulp by his wife in the middle of the street because he can't keep his fly zipped is news.

by this rational then nobody is "slightly intelligent" because i'm sure there isn't a point in time where anybody can't look back in time and say something they did wasn't stupid.

i know i've certainly engaged in questionable behavior over the course of my life. i guess i'm not even "slightly intelligent" then, despite the fact i find myself with a degree that involved several trips to the Dean's List? not that i'm trying to brag but the point is there's more to people than meets the eye.

i guess i didn't realize you were the moral compass of perfection and for that i'm sorry.

The slightly intelligent comment was meant to disqualify the brainless such as Spears, Hilton, Lohan etc. Wasn't trying to make some blanket statement about people who make mistakes, hell we all make them.

The difference is when you're a celebrity those stupid mistakes are quite often played out in the media. It is a known fact and common knowledge that when you screw the pooch the media will be there to tell the public.

this statement is a contradiction.

you can't say on one hand they're dumb, but on the other say say nobody else is. especially if they've engaged in similar stupid behavior at that same age as these people.

I'm not saying that others aren't equally dumb. There is a vast difference in the intellect of say Spears or Hilton compared with Tiger. Tiger is much more intelligent than either of those two and listening to what they have to say for more than a sentence or two should be more than enough time to tell the difference.

What I was saying is that if you told me Lohan, spears or Hilton were not smart enough to realize the implications of being a star I would have believed you because they are simply not very bright. Tiger on the other seems to be a very intelligent person, intelligent enough to know what stardom brings, both positive and negative. This is the difference between Tiger and the group I mentioned above, intelligence, Tiger has it the others don't.

based on the these turns of events, by your definition of intelligence, it doesn't seem to me that Tiger is any smarter than any of the aforementioned female celebrities.

You are making the huge assumption that I am basing my opinion of their intelligence on their actions. As I said before listening to them speak for more than a minute or two was enough to convince me of their intelligence or lack thereof. Certainly their actions had a little to do with it but you also have to figure in the fact that many of those "stupid actions" they committed were a ploy for more media attention. Had they been smarter or had talent they would not have had to resort to these ends.

Are you seriously now trying to peddle the belief that Tiger is no more intelligent or has no more common sense than these women?

EDIT: Wanted to add that doing something stupid doesn't mean you aren't intelligent. Repeatedly engaging in stupid acts and reveling in them does.

The Golf channel had a 30 minute segment on woods infidelity last night. They were so ill equipped to do such a story that they kept bringing in outside source reporters from other networks. For the golf channel to do such a show was surreal. It came down to 30 minutes of balanced opinion. Which was an accomplishment. The last statement from the GC host was that this had brought golf into the mainstream like nothing before it.

Simply amazing for something so amazingly simple. he cheated, so what. I don't care if he did or not. I find myself thinking here in this case the story is the story and the sad state of what people have to know is an indictment of the current to make you feel good about yourself tear the other guy down society.

this wasn't a one time affair with one woman. this was a multiple women multiple times affair, therby, based on YOUR definition, Tiger is no smarter than those women are who are constantly in the media for their behavior.

Is he doing it for media attention or reveling in it?

Is he doing it because he doesn't have talent and needs this exposure?

If the answers to these questions are no then it kind of goes against my statements in terms of Tiger then doesn't it? And for what it's worth Tiger hasn't been in the media constantly for his behavior. He has apparently been at many different women but the fact that he tried to keep it hidden and then tried to keep it out of the media spotlight further sets himself apart from these women.

And I like how you try to take pieces of my posts, while neglecting the words immediately following them, and try to narrow my definition so it suits your argument. It is a little disingenuous.

so does your "friend" who is "actually on tour" not like Tiger and therefore uses the literal term of everybody when the term a lot or most could be used?

i would find it as hard to believe that everybody in a professional organization likes each other as i would that everybody doesn't like each other or a single individual.

Look, it's really pretty simple. An issue came up that I had knowledge on and I commented. Take it FWIW. Like it or don't. Believe it or don't. You may not agree with everything (or anything) I say here but I don't run around making crap up so I can feel better about myself. End of discussion.
