There aren't very many better coaches out there. Just coaches who didn't get caught and had a little bit more fear of the AD.

Being realistic, Pearl inherited a team with CJ Watson, Chris Lofton, and JaJuan Smith. If Scotty and Tobias leave, what exactly is the next coach inheriting?

You have a very good point there.

I am all for the firing. I want to make that clear.

But everyone who says Pearl is easily replaceable and we will get a coach that is better is insane. Pearl broke rules. Yes. But Pearl could flat out coach. There are maybe a handful of proven college coaches that can actually outcoach him. WE might get a coach as good but Pearl was not a B rate coach. If there ever was a firing that I wish could have been avoided, this would have been it.

Even if they hire someone better than Pearl he's going to have a hard time proving it, at least in the short term. It's a mess just like the mess Kiffin left. Someone will have to move in and pick up the pieces again. It's become repetitive.

If we are rating said coach off of NCAA appearances, how far they make it in the tournament, rankings, and beating ranked teams, then I seriously doubt we will get a better coach. We may get a better coach in the sense of coaching up players and making better game time decisions, but i dont see a new coach coming in and achieving what Pearl did as quick as Pearl. With that said though, I hope im wrong :loco:.

A bunch of players that would be consider "more talented" than the bunch you mentioned. Our roster is full of 4 star players. The next coach has an easier job than Pearl did talent wise hands down.

I think we'll have to wait and see on this... let's see who is left here after the dust settles. This may end up being a very depleted roster- low on talent and low on numbers!

Glancing at the roster and knowing we lose 5 scholarship Sr.s, likely lose Harris and Hopson to pros, likely do not bring in our two signees, and possible transfer candidates among this year's freshman class.... we may play next season with 5 or 6 scholarship players!

The next coach is walking into a job that Pearl made popular. Before Pearl we were just a football school with a basketball team on the side.

PS - your criteria sucks something awful because the next coach is going to be left with next to nothing on the roster and potential NCAA sanctions.

Let's hope that the next coach can possibly convince two out of the following four to stay: Tobias, Scotty, Ware, and Jones. I would prefer one being a returning starter. This could go a long way to helping us through the transition. Add me to the list but I think this will be a Dooley type hire not a big name hire. I know the odds of any of those guys coming back or enrolling are slim but if Hamilton will move quickly and hire a solid coach then maybe there is a chance to mend some of the damage.
