The Walking Dead

I didn't care for them just walking into the fire. Have we seen that before on TWD?

I don't know why they haven't tried this before. The zombies have no survival instinct other than feed. They just mindlessly migrate towards whatever attracts them, whether it's walking into 12 feet of water and getting stuck in the mud or fire (apparently).

Fire is how they should have killed them when they were in that quarry. It's so dumb that they didn't try that then.

This episode was so cool and it's the reason we watch all the ****ty ones.

Previously in the season, Darryl was captured in the woods by those three idiots that stole insulin. They told him how they had set a forest fire and it drew all the Walkers into the fire. That's where Darryl got the idea.

They hadn't thought of that trick yet at that point. Plus they they didn't have a method to create a fire like that in the quarry. If they had known, they could have tried it in the forest after the horde broke through, but they were just trying to work their original plan.

Well they know they burn and they were all corralled in one location. Yeah they didn't have an immediate way to burn them all, but they could have come up with something. Roll up in a gas tanker, etc..

Thanks. That's what I was looking for was a precedent

The way Daryl took out Negan's men made the entire episode for me.

I knew that there was no way Jessie and sons survived...I had just read that portion of the graphic novel.

I wanted Carl to die. Then for Rick to join up with Negan to protect Judith. Would have been best if he went full on crazy.

The day to night commercial break threw me off and had me convinced that the chain deaths were someone's nightmare (like the reviewer said). It's crazy... This show can be so awesome and suck hard in the span of a few scenes... Just inconsistencies that come with the territory, I guess.

The effort put forth on this one, imo, spares twd team from minor criticisms this week. I'm sure will have plenty of opportunities to get after them as we move on

I'm one of the least critical of the show but I felt like there was a ton of stupid in this episode.

First of all we got a cliff hanger of Sam saying "Mom" in the middle of the horde. All break it was like "what are they gonna do?!?" ... Come to find out it's apparently OK to have chats when hiding in plain site. Just don't start crying cause that tips them off. And what was with the sudden change of day to night.

Then the whole 'everybody join in the fight scene'. Even regular cowards Gabriel and Eugene jumped in. Glenn cornered again only to be saved by Abraham who had such good aim in the dark with a machine gun that not a single stray hit Glen.

The opening scene was cool except I was wondering how 1) they didn't hear the tussle 2) Daryl had perfect aim with a rocket launcher 3) weren't Abraham and Sasha standing a little close to come away without a scratch.

That's a good catch. The writers drop stuff like that in the "slow" episodes quite often.

Am I a douche for being glad the little kid is dead? He was such a pu$$y!

Absolutely not and I'm glad he's dead, I just hate to see Jessie go.

It's been known for quite some time that walkers are attracted to bright lights, sounds, and anything that moves.

They didn't have a tanker full of fuel to use in the quarry and even a full tank wouldn't have been enough to take out all those zombies.

I noticed the whole "mom" scene was completely removed from this episode. They didn't even revisit it or address it.

If Daryl choked the guy out and stabbed him in the head you likely wouldn't have heard anything. You don't really need to aim with a rocket launcher, but if it helps I believe there is a sight on the one he used. Sasha and Abraham were blown back from the blast but not hit with shrapnel.

I don't disagree with the first 2. That was some horrible editing from the end of the last episode until the beginning of this one. Honestly I can't really believe they let that happen because it was so glaring. Also, we didn't need Rick's quick flashbacks of Jessie, that was pretty stupid.

I already commented on the fight, I thought parts of it was cheesy. And the part were it showed everyone slashing was bad.

I also thought the scene with Glenn and Enid in the church was cringe-worthy bad. I don't know if it's the lines that are written for them or if one or both are just not great at acting, but their whole conversation came across as soap opera bad. It wasn't even like 2 real people talking to each other, just each trying to out-monologue each other; which that's been a criticism of mine of the writing on the show for a good while now.

Speaking of that, last nitpick, but I'm glad that Wolf guy is dead because he's another whose acting sucked something awful. Again, his dialogue sounded like a guy trying way too hard to be dramatic.

Having said all that, still a good episode as a whole.

This episode was fairly close to the graphic novel.
People did come out to help Rick. In the comic, they just hacked and Slayed until all the walkers were dead. Somewhat less realistic given the numbers.

The comic was unrealistic in the shot that took Carl's eye took a significant chunk of his skull. Without a major trauma center, no way anyone survived that. Would have been unlikely to survive even with access to a trauma center. Having worked in a major trauma center, I have seen some really strange and bizarre results from gunshot Wounds. The show was better in this aspect. Yes, I now still unlikely to survive this in the zombie apocalypse win most anabiotic's have expired at this point…

I really liked the episode. My only complaints are the ones already mentioned. I know it's a show about zombies so you have to suspend belief, but how far does that go is the question.

Carl's eye being shot out is a very important part of the comics and the way the episode did it was really poor.

Glenn not getting hit with a single bullet.

I also thought maybe the whole Sam and his mom thing was a dream. It really came across as one to me. I literally was expecting Rick to snap out of it until Carl's eye was shot out then I knew it was real.

don't really have a problem with the bold. remind me again what was bad about the editing about the end of the last episode? quick flashbacks of Jessie were kinda cheesy, but i didn't mind them too much when they were interchanging with the shots of her arm getting chopped off lol

glenn and enid conversation in the church was groan-worthy. it's times like that, the show completely loses me.

wolf guy was on talking dead after the episode. turns out he's Australian. So at least he has that whole "foreigner that speaks American accent better than many actual Americans" thing going for him.

Really good episode, now bring on the 6 hours of nothing. Also the flashing of different people slashing was about the dumbest yet funniest thing I've seen on this show.

At the end of episode 8, while they were walking out of the house, Sam is starting to say "Mom!" and says it a few times, getting louder each time. Starting this episode, they are already a good ways from the house and no one acted like it happened. I supposed one could argue they shut him up but even if they did, that should raise a big red flag that this dude is about to crack. They don't even seem to really consider that except maybe a tiny bit when they stop to change plans. Plus it's been established that it's a giant no-no to talk or anything around the walkers, so him saying "Mom" a few times definitely should have caused some problems.

Of course they did stop and have a committee meeting in some trees so I guess that should have been a problem too.

Also the day to night after a commercial break was a bit jarring.

It was very jarring. I thought I missed something.

we only heard the sound of his voice/didn't see him say anything during that closing scene. I just took it as foreshadowing/messing with us. my guess is he never really said anything as they were leaving the house.

EDIT: nevermind lol i just rewatched it, i was wrong. forget i said anything. carry on :whistling:

the day to night thing was terrible. very jarring indeed.
