The Weightlifters Thread

Have always liked Layne. I am currently doing his pre-contest diet. It is awesome. 8 weeks in, with 8 left. It gives you everything you need.

You mind linking that.

Starting by bulk diet about 3200 cals daily. Might seem low, but I think my maintenance is around 2700ish.

I've been at it for about 12 weeks now, and I'm thinking of starting to cut after my week off this week. Seems like a good time. I wouldn't say that I'm happy with the amount of mass I've put on, yet, but I'm dyin to get rid of my love handles.

I will probably lift at lunch and do insanity during the evenings, along with a reduced caloric intake. But, if I'm about to start insanity, I've got to totally get rid of these shin splints first.

That is a good way to go. If you start out oo high on calories you will just gain fat. I like to stay somewhat lean while I bulk. No sick pack but I can still see muscle definition. I hate when I see guys at my gym say they are "bulking" and they are fat as hell.

Here is the link to the pre-contest diet I am doing: Bodybuilding.com - A Unique Combination Of Science And Experience Based Pre-Contest Advice.

I know this is from 2005, but he says in the forum he still agrees with pretty much everything. He has just made a few changes to the week before a contest, since I am just cutting I dont need that info.

It works great for cutting. I started at 218. The first week I lost 5 lbs water weight from the drop in carbs. Ever since then its been 2lbs or under a week. Also, I have not lost any strength so I know I am retaining all of my muscle.

If you cut properly you will not lose any or not much of the muscle you gained.

I ran short on time today. Had to throw together a superset workout before work. I wish there was a way to train all day and get paid LOL. Now wouldn't that be sick...

I hear you there. My girl is a personal trainer and certified to teach just about every class out there. I would like to open a personal training studio/supplement store combo. My concern is how much the economy sucks right now. I think it would go over though. I just need to grow a set and do it.

Looks like this guy will be out of the game for a while. I guess I'll take up running or biking and just trim down until I can lift again

The economy sucks and it is tough. I figure once I get sick of my profession that is what I will try to do.

Sorry to hear that! Good luck on the recovery!

Switched from a low-rep, progression workout chart to a high-rep, progression workout chart this week.

We had been doing the low reps for about 5 or 6 weeks and now are onto the high reps. 5 sets of 10 reps on the bench press is tough. Not sure what they are trying to get out of us. Muscular endurance, I suppose?

Just got my order in from Body Building dot com!

Keep ripping my hand off doing deadlifts.. Guess I should let it heal 100% before going heavy again. Oh well, We like to live by a little motto around here. Don't be a pussy! haha.

Oh, and nice pill organizer for all those powders haha.

Those are for my vitamins. Hey Jesus - the directions on that Cell Mass says to take on an empty stomach. How important is that? Because I rarely have an empty stomach.

Just busting your balls man haha.

And I would think it would just help it to absorb faster, I'm no expert by any means so don't take what I say as gospel tho.

I usually can't stick with the take with/without food directions myself either, I just take my supps when I can, and I can't really tell a difference.
