The Weightlifters Thread

Yay! Some douche broke the t-bar. And it's my day to do back.

Otter, blame whoever made that and then whoever chose to buy it. Looks like a piece of crap.

It's Legend equipment. I can say most of their stuff is crap. I can't tell you how many welds have failed on their garbage, and how many I have welded for free for the dude. But most of it is from the tards he let's come in here, and misuse of the equipment. I won't complain too much since he lets me in for free, and gave me a key to come in as I please. This is the first time the t-bar has failed though.

Alright I have a few questions.

I started p90x again last night, gonna do the lean version with a lot of cardio and plyometrics to just try and cut fat.

I've always had a pretty muscular, athletic build and been in pretty good shape through high school and always had baseball to keep me in shape but since I graduated in '10 I've put on a little bad weight since I do nothing except sit in a cockpit most days.

I do race motocross though so that will definitely help since it's one of the most physically demanding sports in the world.

My question is what type of diet would you guys say is best? I know to drink a lot of water and cut out soft drinks and the normal cheese burgers, fatty foods, etc etc.

I have a friend who is my age that has always been bigger, but the last year or so he has gotten really cut and slimmed down a lot. He said all he did was eat the same food, but count his calories and not go over the limit. Was wondering if any of y'all had luck trying that.

Honestly, that's the reason why any diet will work to some extent; because they force people to think actively about their food. Once you do that, portions will almost always go down and become more frequent.

Truth. I talked my father into doing p90x, because of the diet alone. He is almost 60. He does what he can exercise wise, but the diet he sticks by. It has worked wonders.

lol, I stayed up til 2am watching the ****ing Preds and Grizzlies get humiliated last night. I'll be taking the day off.

I was up till 1, had to be at work at 8 get of at 5. Then study for the CPA exam for a few hours then lift. Taking the day off, that is weak :). Just playing with ya, I took the last 3 days off.

Taking the day off, because I figured it would do me more good to wait til tomorrow than try to lift on 4 hours of sleep.

Silly me. I thought energy was important to workouts. :p

Shoulda just taken a quadruple dose of jack3d and been a man!

I firmly believe this. Just being somewhat conscious of your intake will make a huge difference.

Portion size has always been a problem for me. Since changing the frequency and amount I'm eating, I'm seeing results without working too hard. Nutrition and diet are my achilles heel, not the training or the drive to work.

We were pretty poor for part of my developing years, and my parents are absurdly frugal. I was taught you eat everything on your plate. It was reinforced over and over again. Even today I have to consciously stop myself from eating everything on my plate after I'm full. I'll just keep eating til it's gone because that is how I was conditioned.

"Waste not, want not" will get your ass fat.

I got a friend that we asked one day if he was hungry & wanted to grab something to eat & he said "I'm not hungry but I'll eat to keep from getting hungry".

If I quit eating when I get full then I would be stick man. I have to force myself to eat more. But I also eat very healthy.

Same for me. My parents always wanted us to clean the plate.
