The Weightlifters Thread

That is unfortunate. I already bought it along with a few other supplements on bodybuilding.com.

What pre-workout would you suggest then? I always went with JACK3D, but it seemed that bodybuilding.com didn't sell it on their site anymore.

I think MuscleTech is pretty much garbage, however, I have heard a few people say Neurocore isn't bad.

DPS nutrition is still selling jack3d

As is TFsupplements. They are having a PW sale right now actually.

I am not a big pre-workout person, just eat a good meal with lean protein and complex carbs about an hour to an hour and a half before workout and you will be good to go.

In the gym 5-6 days a week. Most important day today, legs day.

5'10.5" 225-230lbs depending on the time of day, 10-11ish% body fat (as best as I can guess)

I don't do 1RM's... Don't see the point other than lame-ass bragging rights.

Most of my sets tend to be 4x8's, I'll drop to 3-5 reps if I'm trying to put up more weight, 8-10 if I'm really feeling it.

Squat: usually in the neighborhood of 365lbs
Bench: 95-110lb dumbells (haven't done barbell in months)
Shrug: ~455lbs
Deadlift: 315

Just some general stuff, upper chest and shoulders can be difficult for me because of a bad rotator cuff and damaged cartilage in my left shoulder but I get it done.

Doing legs is so overrated. I can understand working calves out but nobody even hardly sees your upper legs.

A lot of people who know what they are doing say your upper body will resist development if your legs are dragging behind.

I had your mindset for a long time, but I am so happy with my legs. I've lifted them consistently for 18 months now, and am satisfied with the results....even if only one other person sees them.

He's trolling, but just to take it seriously...

It's widely accepted that even if you're a guy who prefers to focus on upper body, not working out legs holds you back in a big way.

I've noticed most guys who just focus on calves can rip them out, but they still don't come close to matching their arms, and they tend to look silly. I think most people have to hit their thighs to get their calves right.

You all were completely right. The NeuroCore was complete garbage. Instructions said to only use 1 scoop upon first use, but I used 2 scoops because I expected it to be weak. Didn't feel anything at all from it. Not a good sign after using for the first time, IMO. JACK3D is loads better than this was. I will have to find some somewhere.

I think Vitamin Shoppe has it & even gnc might. Online I know DPS does.

Thanks, I will check Vitamin Shoppe and GNC for it.

While I am on the subject, do you know anything or have any suggestions concerning AminoX by BSN?

Don't get caught up in all the supplement hoopla. IMO all you need is a good pre-workout (jack3d), creatine monohydrate (EAS phosphagen or ON creapure), & a good protein (ON gold standard 100% whey). Again JMO

TFsupplements was having a 2 day PW sale the other day, it MIGHT still be going on. They were selling it for 22.99 I think.

Got the JACK3D. Everything is good now.

Another question though. How many days a week do you all normally lift weights? And if so, how many times a week do you workout certain body parts?

I say 4 days a week hitting each muscle group once.
