The Weightlifters Thread

My training with Mr. Donnie Thompson went great today. I learned a lot of stuff and we trained for about 2 hrs and talked about strategy for about an 1hr. His gym is directly behind William Brice Stadium. It is a DUNGEON AND IT IS AWESOME...nobody just standing around to be noticed but just powerlifters, men and women, lifting hard and heavy...no air conditioning but 2 huge industrial fans...it was in a storage like building so the front was open and they used the parking lot to pull a sled...I loved it.

Went in today expecting to do a back day. Warned up with lat pull down then tried my first set of weighted pull-ups, it was a no go. Pain seemed to be going down into my rotator cuff.

I decided to try doing shoulders, and surprisingly enough I had 0 pain.

I did all of the following:

Dumbell military press: 60x8, 65x8, 70x8, 75x8, and 80x7

Hex bar shrugs: 275x8, 285x8, 295x8

External cable rotation: 30x12, 40x12, 40x12

so its more of a pull hurt when hands over shoulder and not when its a push? honestly, when I tore my labrum, I tore it completely in half...wasn't connected to anything, I still played a full softball tourney pitching, couldn't throw at all overhand just underhand, and batting and I played golf...so it could still be Labrum.

I'll have to look into that possibility. I wrote earlier that on pull up the weight "down into my rotator cuff", but I meant to put that it went down into my lats. What did your torn labrum feel like?

if its in your lats...it may just be a pulled, maybe torn, muscle...Does it take your breath away? if it does, it may be the muscle over your shoulder blades strained and pulled...I believe its called acute myoplasia (sp)

Labrum felt awful when I picked up anything straight up over my head or tried to throw overhand...knee buckling hurt...I played softball, every weekend on a travel team, for a month with it torn...I just pitched and hit, but by my last tourney in Maryville I could only swing with my left arm, tear was in right shoulder. Had surgery and did physical therapy and it still took a year to feel good enough to work out heavy...

I woke up this morning and my left wrist feels broken. I tried to take out the trash and couldn't pull the bag out of the can. Intense pain!

Bout to turn 40. Getting old sucks.

I had a small fracture in my left wrist a couple years back. Wraps allowed me to lift all the way through my recovery.

Well, I have found out I don't like Pedialyte lol...trying to hydrate and everyone said to drink it...I think they were laughing when I left...

Working on my shape for the summer and it's going well. Each year I'm worried I will be disappointed. Still got it into my 30s. All I have to do is give up beer. :cray:

Lol I take your posting from your throne.
