The Weightlifters Thread

WOW...it was rough getting back started this week...started back Tuesday with my speed days and it felt like my max days...lol

going to lift thru Tuesday of this week and I have another competition Saturday in Columbia...I am going to do it bc of who all is going to be there...it is at THE COMPOUND which is Donnie Thompson's place and Dave Hoff, 3005lb total, and Shawna Mendelson, she is jacked, will be there...

After this one I will train until Sept for my next one and will lose down to 300-305 to compete in the 308lb class...

I just want to go 9 for 9 on my lifts this time and set PR's if it is only by 5lbs...

dude...you're training different than I am...I would love to hit the teens on my body fat % lol...so I look up to you in that aspect...we all have our personal goals and no one is gonna be the exact same...

so take off your shoes and stay awhile...:zeitung_lesen:

I got to the gym today, pulled into a parking spot, cut the engine, quick replying to a business email, and a Mercedes CLK pulls in next to me. Immediately swings the door open and BAM!, hits my passenger side. I look up, she's oblivious, and starts walking towards the gym. It's a middle aged China girl in a tennis outfit.

I get out and yell, "excuse me mam, are you just going to hit me and walk off?"

She says, "oh sorry sir, didn't see you in car. I no mean to do it." Then continues walking.

I yell, "you put a really big dent in my passenger side door! Where are you going?"

She says, "sorry sir, I'm late to my lesson."

I got really agitated. I said, "lady, if you walk into that gym, I'm going to flatten all 4 of your tires!"

She's says, as she continues to walk away, "why you so angry? I say I not mean to do it."

I won't finish the story. But I felt a lot better. That dent will cost me $75. Can't buy 4 tires for $75. Lol!

1610 TOTAL today...605lb Squat, 490lb Bench, 515lb Dead Lift (missed 535 bc knee wasn't locked) , it was an outside meet...hot and tiring...finished 2nd overall

Btw, BigOrangeCrush32 that is some serious weight you're lifting. Im a casual lifter, just enough to stay in shape. But thats some great inspiration for people like me.

Thank You...I am starting back Friday to train for September, took 2 weeks off...I am doing all this clean, aka no steroids and no equipment, thinking I am going to stay in the Raw Division and shoot for some records. This time around I am only doing creatine, fish oil, vitamins and drinking coffee before workouts instead of Pre Workout supps. Going to train with some gear to help with my Raw lifts. Can't weight, hahaha, I did that on purpose for the grammar Nazi's.

Roids, HGH, and pure testosterone is where it's at. Wish I could take a cycle or 2 to put on a little more mass and shred up.

I actually agree with ya...and I have used in past (yrs ago)...but...after competing and doing this Raw and clean and getting the PRs without...I really want to see what I can do clean. Plus, I don't have the extra funds for that stuff lol...good cycle of Sustenon and Deca is over 550 dollars for a 12wk cycle and that isn't counting the PCTs you need.

I'm officially not seeing any results anymore.
For a while, I did higher weight and low reps. Once I stopped feeling like I was making a physical (or strength) difference, I moved to low weight and high reps. I've actually lost weight now, though I am eating the same amount.

Which strategy do you have the most success with? High weight/low reps or low weight/high reps?

You've built more muscle which has increased your calorie needs. Add 500 calories for each lb you're losing per week. So if you're losing 2 lbs a week, add 1000 calories.

Then your body should have the nutrion needed to build muscle.

And I've seen the best results doing heavy 3 sets of 8. Meaning I rest 3-5 minutes so I can go heavy on each set. But that differs for each person.

Lift weights, increase weight incrementally, and get enough calories and sleep.

If you do those things, you'll make gains.

I think it's all about shocking the muscles and changing things up.

I do both. One week is heavy, next week is reps. I've stayed in really good shape with this routine. Been doing it a couple of years.

School is out so the gym was packed with kids today. A group of about 6 high school boys were huddled in a squat rack squating a plate on each side.....and chains! :lol:

That's awesome...I bet they were just barely bending their knees and then going back up and screaming like they were squatting a tank...

Did they have on tank tops and their socks up to their knees?
