The "what album are you listening to now" thread...

By the way, throwing my Mom into it just shows how pathetic your argument is...low blow, would not expect any less from a guy who thinks B.o.B is the second coming...joker.

Funny thing about it is how safe he is behind his mommy's computer while typing those words...

LoLLoLl :clapping:

What a joke...

not bad at all

Wow...I mean wow.

His raps are basic, maybe that is your style because your basic...age is nothing but a number, Nas put out one of the greatest albums of all-time ( any genre ) before he was 20...I play multiple instruments, you probably don't, would explain why you are impressed by a guy who knows a few chords...you said that he was the cream of the crop when it came to rappers who also sang, I gave you 2 examples of guys who are MUCH better than him...cream of the crop, that is a direct quote...never said he used auto tune, I said that auto tune and pro-tools can make anyone sound good...of course he uses pro-tools, probably uses it to correct the pitch in his voice bring it into key and make his VERY OVERRATED VOICE sound somewhat decent...now you and that phony music producer OrangeKush can continue to salivate over this guy all you want, I refuse to believe that he is the best thing that rap has to offer, which is what you think...you guys were quoting his basic ass rhymes like it was profound, the other dummy actually went through the process of trying to explain what it meant...hilarious...if you don't know what "real meaning" is your not as sharp as you think you are, who knew after making a comment on here that you would have to break it down to a 3rd grade level so some people could understand it.

So keep swinging form his sack, I promise there will be another young rapper from Atlanta, one who will surely sweep you and your boy off of your feet.

1. I'm basic? Thanks, I guess.
2. How is the Nas point relevant?
3. I'm impressed by your ability to play musical instruments. No really I am.
4. He sings better than cee-lo, imo. And I've seen them both live...at the same time. This was a couple months ago. I haven't heard the other guy you mentioned.
5. If you weren't implying he used auto-tune, then why did you mention it?
6. With the pro-tools*...now you're just not making any sense. The entire music industry has a bad voice?
6(a). Are you the same guy that was hating on passion pit in another thread and pulled out his "belmont" card in the process? Did you notice that I replied to you in that thread?
7. I'm not sure what a basic rhyme is? Does that also mean I'm not very sharp?
8. What does "real meaning" mean? Define it for me. Take a stab.
9. B.o.b was silly at Bonnaroo. I tried to check out your boy Jay Electronica, but there was a time conflcit. Maybe next time.
10. Because no good list ends at 9.

*And I don't have any earthly idea whether he uses it or not. He could, I guess, but I have no idea.

By the way, throwing my Mom into it just shows how pathetic your argument is...low blow, would not expect any less from a guy who thinks B.o.B is the second coming...joker.

1. I think I referred to your mother in an appropriate manner.
2. Even if I didn't, pretty sure it has no affect on the strength of my argument.
3. Speaking of argument strength: what you did there in the above-quoted post -- that's a circular argument. It's actually a textbook example. Nice work.

Like I said before...

Get your ears cleaned out. Nothing here to compare or even put on the same level.

Dude is ok at best but garbage compared to Ceelo. I'm sorry your mainstream opinion isnt shared with myself or others on this topic. No need to get crazy.....

All I'm saying.

1. Does your mother clean out ears? Could she help me out?
2. Why would my opinion be considered mainstream? Cee-lo is much much more well known than B.o.b.
3. I'm pretty sure you didn't follow my initial response. Your subsequent responses indicate that you aren't particularly articulate, which makes sense. No worries, I'll try again:
3(a). The song ("Nothing on You)" that you pointed to as proving that B.o.b has a bad voice == a song that B.o.b isn't singing on.
3(b). We're good now? Everybody's on the same wavelength? Systems go?

I mentioned Nas because you mentioned his age as a factor in his greatness.

Your easily impressed.

He sings better than Cee-Lo? Fine, he is better than Anthony Hamilton too.

I mentioned auto-tune and pro-tools, because they are used to make the average sound good.

I don't think I am the same guy on the passion pit debate, I have only heard a few songs by them.

"Real meaning" it is so cute you put it in quotations, as if it doesn't exist...how about not talking about magic and falling from the sky? Or wishing airplanes were shooting stars? Has the guy had a "real" life experience to talk about? Something relevant?

Hopefully this will end the whole discussion, tired of it, he isn't worth the time.

Classy Mom jokes...your awesome!

1. I mentioned age in the context of how prolific B.o.b is. So the Nas comment arguably isn't relevant.
1(a). Fwiw, I'm also a big fan of the album you're referring to.

2. I think you mean "you're" awesome. I'm not very sharp, though. I could be wrong.
2(a). I also think you mean "you're" easily impressed. But, again, I could be wrong. I'm currently hanging onto -- and swinging back and forth from -- B.o.b's genitals. It's pretty distracting, as you could imagine, so I could have misread.

3. But B.o.b is "the average" you were referring to. So if you knew he didn't use auto-tune, why mention it?

4. I'm happy to end this discussion. Perhaps B.o.b isn't worth the time. But your definition of "real meaning" certainly is by all means worth the time, and you still haven't given it. So can you go ahead and pretty please give us that definition? I'm really looking forward to it. And then we're done, I promise.

I guess I just don't get all the hoopla...I've listened to his latest album and it just seems average to me.

Like I have said, his writing ability is average, his delivery sounds like Big Boi, his singing ability is vastly overrated and that is putting it lightly.

I did like some of the stuff he did on the guitar and piano, if it is really him.

I know I am coming down hard on the guy in this thread, just stating for the record that I like him, I just don't think he is that great...the potential is there though.

Gah, not arguing or bullin around, but did you look @ the credits @ all? Do you know how to read a credit page and what it all means? I'm just making sure you understand that his album and what he writes can be worlds apart. He's pursuing a career as an artist. Not as a writer. He may use some of his own stuff as it fits the overall scheme and framework for a particular album. But defining his writing skill by his album is like saying kobe can't hoop bc my homies beat him 5 on 1 in a game of pool-hoops. The kid has "it". You don't like "it", that's fine. We can see eye to eye on that. But you claimed he used a vocorder, when he clowns artists who do so (not you Jay!). You claimed his records were "more of the self serving crap" that is rap, when his message is the polar opposite of the status quo of the 2000's. The more you have bashed him, the more you've shown your ignorance regarding his burst on the scene. Get to know him, you'll like him. He's "a breath of fresh air"(quoted from above and some from you and bottom from B.o.B. ........

"But aint none-a this gonna matta when I die...(Say goodbye) (so long) (*sigh-a-nar-a) Ill have to catch you 'tomorah Baby..baby...Cuz Ill be in the sky".....

Back to the mom comments. Pathetic...

I'll entertain your tired and repetitive responses only one more time since you're boring the hell out of me.

My links posted were just generalization links; copy and pasted from youtube. Didn't do detail investigation into the videos. Sorry, my next few tabs will be for the simple minded.

-Since it appears to be EXTREMELY difficult for you to comprehend, my initial response was directed to the individual who compared Ceelo and B.o.B. as being alike. I disagreed. Simple.

-I'll copy and paste every link on the internet with tracks from both Ceelo and B.o.B., if it makes it easier for you to understand. Simple.

-Mainstream opinion is, generally, the common current of thought of the majority. Since it seems everyone is on B.o.B now, that classifies your opinion under this. Simple.

Once you can check back into reality and give a spirited debate without making it a battle of the whits(you're failing), mom jokes(pathetic) and/or grammatically correcting(it's the internet, seriously?), then get back at me.

I'll end with this. Like I said before(sad I have to retype for some to catch) B.o.B. is ok at best. Nothing against the guy, hope he is very successful at his work. But when compared to some of the greats like Ceelo, than there is no comparison IMO. It's unfortunate some just can't take an opinion for what it's worth and keep dumbass sh^t talk off the internet. Yawns. ZZzzZzz

With the real meaning crap still?

Something that has heart, something with a story behind it, paint a picture with your music , tell a story or experience about your life or someone close to you...anything at all.

Hope that is good enough for you.

Back to the mom comments. Pathetic...

Mom jokes are great. Everybody knows this.

I'll entertain your tired and repetitive responses only one more time since you're boring the hell out of me.

Sorry I'm boring you. Good to see that you still took the time to respond.

Seriously? You're gonna compare the way he sings and not even bother to find a link where he actually does sing? And you're surprised you got called on that? In fact, you actually went a step further and linked one of his songs that feature somebody else singing. I mean jesus tap-dancing christ, dude, that's just confusing. Everybody loses.

Here he is on Jimmy Kimmel. This was really hard to find.

YouTube - B.o.B. Performs "Lovelier Than You"

-I'll copy and paste every link on the internet with tracks from both Ceelo and B.o.B., if it makes it easier for you to understand. Simple.

You actually don't need to do that. But, as a general rule going forward, when I'm comparing artists' voices, I try to insert links that feature the voice of the artists I'm discussing. That's just a general rule of thumb that I tend to employ.

-Mainstream opinion is, generally, the common current of thought of the majority. Since it seems everyone is on B.o.B now, that classifies your opinion under this. Simple.

The opinion of four guys on a message board represents mainstream opinion? Sure guy.

Once you can check back into reality and give a spirited debate without making it a battle of the whits(you're failing), mom jokes(pathetic) and/or grammatically correcting(it's the internet, seriously?), then get back at me.

I'm only engaging in a battle of wits in the sense that any message board is inherently a battle of wits. I just type, dude. I don't spellcheck and I certainly don't edit. If what I type comes out sounding okay, well then that's great. If that isn't the case with someone else, I'm not one to call attention to that fact...unless that someone else is being a dick.

With the real meaning crap still?

Something that has heart, something with a story behind it, paint a picture with your music , tell a story or experience about your life or someone close to you...anything at all.

Hope that is good enough for you.

I appreciate that you took the time to do that. But I don't think that rapping about aliens falls outside of your definition. One of my very favorite albums of all time, regardless of genre, is a rap albums with an alien theme. I'm referring of course to ATLiens by Outkast. I believe that the songs on that album -- and the many many songs by Bobby Ray that talk about alien-esque subjects -- are very meaningful songs. If they didn't have some meaning to me, I certainly wouldn't put them at the very top of my album list. So in my estimation, no mutual exclusivity exists between those two objectives. Just my humble opinion.

Fair enough, agree to disagree.

He has talent, no doubt and maybe he will become something great, who knows.

Anyway, back on topic, I'm listening to Seether- Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces.
