The whole black coach issue

I haven't seen one of those in about 50 years. Not long before that, we were killing Japanese and Germans. Things change.

I wonder how many Germans and Japanese are in Alabama prisons these days.

If, at any time, the statics showed (they didn't) that one race was arrested 90% of the time and another race made up 90% of the prison population, I would call for an investigation into racial profiling of the 90% arrest rate with no conviction.

To say things have not changed is ridiculous. There has been alot of change in fifty years. Things need to improve from a coaching standpoint but that doesn't mean nothing has changed.

What needs to change from a coaching standpoint? If I took a guess, I'd say that 20-35 percent of college and NFL coaches are black.

That doesn't mean more whites are arrested, as you tried to claim.

Even with those numbers though, you have to consider the following:

1. Large black populations exists within the city, where the majority of cops are.

2. A very large percentage of the prison population is there for drug related charges and/or theft/ burglary. Both of which are crimes typically associated with poverty.

Im just saying all people are the same.. But the numbers doesn't lie... I can't show you the arrest data of the state.. But, Montgomery, Brimingham and Mobile majority black. Thats Three counties out of 67....

Then those staffs are the ones that are racist for making a point out of it... GOD, I am SO SICK of the 'race card' being continually throne around..

You hire the best coach/recruiter you can, REGARDLESS of skin color...

I could not care less if another staff is low enough to use those tactics and if they do they are the ones with the problem and frankly they are scumbags for using gutter tactics like that... Not to mention it doesn't reflect very well on the intelligence of players that fall for that crap... Kinda makes them look like racist dumbasses also...

And to the guy who insuated the South hasn't changed.... Really, you can't be serious... Damn, get the **** over it..

I don't agree with it, but it's being used.

Step outside, take a picture of a "Colored Waiting Room" sign, post it in this thread, and get back to me.

You made a dumbass statement. All one has to do is pull up the racially-based laws and amendments passed in the last 50 years. All you have to do is look at the amount of oversight into racial hiring statistics. All you have to do is attend mandated diversity training at the corporate level.

A LOT has changed in the past 50 years.

That's probably the 3 most populated counties as well.

My question is this, how long will you defend rapist, addicts, and thieves...and when will you begin taking accountability?

Stop making excuses, and start educating your children. The real reason young black men are going to jail in record numbers, is because their parents fail to instill in them the value of an education.

Plenty of first generation Hispanics, Indians, and other immigrants come to this country and make a great life for themselves.

Every man has an opinion..

That's all well and good, and we can end the conversation with that, except that I will add:

Opinions are one thing and facts are another. The changes in our laws protecting the rights of minorities are facts. The school integration enforced by our fine soldiers actually happened 50 years ago. The hoops that companies have to jump through to prove racially/gender-fair hiring practices actually exist.

Those are facts. Not opinion.

I am a proud resident of one of our great southern states. It is offensive to us southern white residents to ignore the great improvements that have been hard-won over the last 50 years. It should be offensive to any black resident to deny the hard-won rights that they have gained in the past 50 years.

I moved about three years ago. When my wife and I chose a house, we specifically chose a racially diverse neighborhood to move into-- white, black, indian-- in a school district that would ensure our kids would be surrounded with diversity

My son is dating a beautiful black girl with complete acceptance from his family and every one of their friends at school.

So, hide behind the "opinion" guise all you want. Your opinion is based on a total disconnect from reality and you made a dumbass statement.

Good day.

orangepit, no statistic you post will change the fact that things have improved in the past 50 years. Let's continue from the original premise, which was:

We still have a long way to go, but...

[Colored Waiting Room Sign]

Things have changed.

50 years ago Rosa Parks was told to go to the back of the bus. A few days a go they put a statue of her in the congress concourse. 50 years ago schools were not integrated, very few black players on college football teams and here we are discussing black college coaches. The only black college coaches 50 years ago were at "black colleges" and "black high schools". Their is much that can be done but to say nothing has be done reflects a life of a person with their head in the sand or someone who has been raised to hate white people. I feel sorry that you can't find any joy in life because you spend all your time ranting about perceived injustice. It's a sad way to live.

well, 40 years ago, many white people, or crackas, would've been pissed that we have a black coach. Now, 99% are happy.

Sounds like decent progress to me.

I wonder if Alabama should enact legislation that mandates that their prison population must be absolutely racially equal all times.

That's all you got out of that post, huh?

Sad.

50 years ago, I would have sat down with a beer and watched a ball game with you, if we'd been around then. And today, I'd do the same. I'll leave it at that.
