The whole black coach issue

And all staffs need diversity. Period.

Why? In a world where people love to say we are equal, do you they love to talk about how different we are. If its equal and we supposed to be "one" nation, why force people to see the difference. Why force preferential hiring practices, why force affirmative action. Good lord people you voted in a "black" president. (though he is only half). Cant you get over the fact that the majority of this nation is white and therefor the majority of the work force including coaches are going to be white. You do not see white people demanding that there be an equal number of white and black players.

Its people like you who keep perpetuating the differences between black and white, while hiding behind the guise of "social justice". You and people like you force us to continue to see each other in black and white.

What you tryin to say, brutha?

Sorry to be politically correct, which unfortunately the weak and pathetic idiots in our country are trying to force on us, I would prefer being called and Irish/Jewish American (though yes we are all brothers). And Im saying that he should check the violent crime, and felony rates.

Irish/Jewish Americans never do wrong, that is a fact. What must we do to help me and my poor mislead black brethren from falling on the lowly path? Oh Lawdy, woes is me!

Isn't it slightly racist to say we need a black guy on the staff because black kids don't relate well with white guys?

You are right; you raise a point that many folks prefer to avoid. The purpose of a college education is to teach critical thinking, and along the way, instill character. As long as universities continue to use race as a factor (in any activity), we (as a society) will continue to perpetuate the notion that race is more important that character (or critical thinking).

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."

"I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Martin Luther King, J

Did you really just use the term "reverse racist"?

That's the most racist term on the planet.

OK. Now you know in your eyes and others as well, I'm as fallible as you or anybody else. That will always be true and especially so when you take a single word or phrase out of context to forge into a tool for fault- finding.

I'm just saying the term "reverse racism" is a horribly racist term, because it implies that only whites can be racist. And if a minority is racist, it's because of how they have been treated by whites.

I am black and I don't give a damn what color the coaches are; just turn this mother around!

I agree. But I'm white.

Doyle, if you had a son getting recruited by several schools, how important would it be to you?

I pose this question to all our fellow black brothers and sisters.

( I started to ask grizz but I worry him enough with questions)

A racist is a racist, whether reverse or 50 shades of rainbow colors. Now, what you said above, the thought never entered my head. When I say reverse racist, it means anyone who accuses others of being racist then turns around and behaves the same way as those s/he accused. Thus a racist is a racist--period. Color doesn't even have be in play. Look at the Irish - British conflict, and the inter-tribal hatreds in Africa, it all the same stink.

So, if Blacks are racist, it's because of the way they were treated by Whites. If Whites are racist, it is because of the way they were treated by Blacks. The world might be that simple for a lot of people, but I do not find it that simple at all. I've been treated good and ill by people of every race, including my own.

A black coach may have more in common with black athletes than white coaches, and recruiting is about relationships. So coaching staffs around the country feel it's important to have black coaches. Simple enough?

It wouldn't be that important, and I've raised my kids to believe the same. But, that's me. There are other parents who think different.

The post I quoted references "kosher", thus the Jewish comment.

There are far more factors in the statistics than just race. It was a joke in reference to that fact.

Should I explain all of my comments to you beforehand, or would you prefer to just keep following me around looking like a tool?

Let me know what works best for you.[/QU
Actually I don't know who the hell you are to determine whether or not you were joking so I responded. I will respond to any idiotic comment if I don't know at the the time it was a joke. Now I know but I wont stop responding to any comments on this board especially the borderline racist ones. Have a nice day.

You are not talking about diversity when you say you 'need' X number of this skin color coaches on a coaching staff whether or not they are the most qualified... That sounds more like quotas which frankly IS stupid and down right un-American..

Diversity is the big buzz word around now and IMO, has simply become another word that points out our differences, NOT our similarities..

If you want to be all fair about, let's have 'diversity' as you call it ON THE FIELD... Let's see more white guys out there, especially in the NBA... Hell, I'm white and I know that ain't gonna fly. The NBA would suck with a majority of white boys such as myself out there running around... You know what, I'm totally cool with it and it's ok to say it because IT'S TRUE for crying out loud..

You get the best you can find for the opening you have, regardless of race, creed or color.. To do otherwise is a dis-service to all races, creeds and colors.. WHY is this so hard to understand for some?

I could NOT care less what color skin you have, what sex you are or what sexual preference you are.. If I'm a contractor and you are the most qualified applicant I have to say.... build a bridge, I don't care about the other stuff, you are hired.. If your an ******* and work hard at pissing people off, it doesn't matter what race, creed or color you are, you ARE STILL an *******..

Bottom line, 'diversity' as you describe it, sounds like nothing more than quotas, screw that...[ The thought process of some of you on here is funny. You talk this rhetoric keyboard style and its amazing your brain functions backassward the way it does.

I never asked you not to respond. I am, however, asking you to try harder to understand context before jumping in with both feet and 'idiot' comments. Or if that remains too much, feel free to ask for clarification. It's for your own benefit.

Now, for our benefit, I would be happy to help you figure out how to use the 'quote' tags in your replies. You seem to be having problems with that.

Somebody needs to post a tutorial for post quoting so darkgable can get the hang of it.
