The Worst Firing In Sports History Was

Who gives a sh&t?

Not like we were swimming in them before or after Phil.

Unless you want to go back to WW2

And he won 2.

Two in 16 years is not good. Championships are all that matter to me. Phil may have won 152 games, but he only won 2 SEC championships. WTF! I would of fired him in 05.

How many NC recognized by the NCAA before CPF?

that wasn't your argument. There were 3 in the 10 years preceding CPF and have been 2 in the 20 years after (I'll even give him 3 so all are on the same level)

CJM won 3 SEC titles and 0 NC

CPF won 2 SEC titles and 1NC

I'll take CPF

Majors won a championship at Pitt. He had to rebuild us while he watches slimeball Phil take his job. Majors is a better coach. Phil had the luxury of having*Majors rebuilt program.

What does grace or courage have to do with the effects of dementia?
It was time for it to end, sad but that's how it goes. There's a fine line between sentimentality and stupidity, and you've clearly missed the last exit on the sentimentality side.

That was not what your initial post stated. Clearly you missed the last exit of the class and intelligence side.

CPF did not take it, CJM lost it.

Lobbying for a job to the point where Johnny got fired is not taking his job? That's like the vice president testifying at the presidents impeachment trial and cutting him down.
Throw me a young Phil and Johnny, and I will take Majors everyday.

Because I don't think Phil is a demigod, I'm wrong? He's the second best coach in an sec era that was weak. That's all.

You're wrong because you don't understand college football. 2 conference titles and 1 national title in 16 years is good. Dismiss it by saying that the bar isn't high if you want. Doesn't change facts. Only a handful of SEC coaches have a better resume. I swear. This is the only fanbase that seeks to dismiss its own record. Do Gator fans dismiss Spurrier's record because the SEC was weak? He won all the titles in the same SEC that apparently doesn't count when we're talking about Fulmer. Do Sooner fans dismiss Stoops because the Big 12 has been trash for much of his tenure? This isn't about thinking that Fulmer is a "demigod." It's about giving the man his proper respect. I don't see why that's so damn difficult for you people.

Because they would have to admit a mistake. And Fulmer haters are NEVER wrong.

Spurrier won the titles that Phil didn't. I don't dismiss him because of a weak SEC. I dismiss him because he only won 2 SEC championships in a weak SEC with 16 years in the league. How many SEC titles did Spurrier win?

Fulmer got a title every 8 years on average. We'd want to fire Butch if he doesn't win one by 2020.

In this sport, championships are the only thing that matter. Ask Butch. If the SEC was as deep back then as it is today, then how Phil is perceived would be way different.

I don't think they need to admit a mistake because I don't think it was mistake to fire him. It could have been handled better, but I don't think there was much of a choice when it happened. I can say that it was time for him to go while still acknowledging how good he was for the program. If he didn't personally harm any of these people, they need to give it a freaking rest and grow up.

There are the people who think Phil shouldn't of been fired at all. 90s Fulmer was a Hall of Famer. 2000's Phil is very mediocre if not bad later on.

Fulmer is in the Hall of Fame. I think that, aside from a few clowns in our own fanbase, there are no issues with his perception.

I never liked Fulmer for his role in the Majors firing! Fullmer benefitted from having Cutcliffe and Chavis. ounce they left the Vols started going down hill! Majors won 3 SEC titles more than fulmer won and in 92 they fire him! If Arkansas's qb doesn't fumble the ball without being touched UT doesn't even play for the national title in 98! I really don't like fulmer sorry!

Once again, showing your pathetic black and gold colors. Responding to this "post" for one reason only - to correct your stupid and inaccurate portrayal of the Arkansas qb not being touched. He was, in fact tripped by his right guard who was blown up and pushed into the backfield by our left defensive tackle, Billy Ratliffe. For you, a freakin Pansybilt fan to post BS about my university? Screw you pal. That team, which went 13-0 won that NC as legitimately as any team ever has.

By the way, win #10 that was over a routinely hapless Pansybilt team .... 41-0 iirc

Nicely said Smilez! I too appreciate Fulmer for the 152 wins and NC. But I too thought the program needed new blood, new leadership. Think we all can do both and be great fans of the program

Once again, any proof that happened? I am waiting.

The absolute worst firing of all time was Mike Price being fired Bama. They had a doggone good coach and never even let him coach a single game. Well, except for the spring scrimmage.
