The WRASSLIN’ Thread

I'm now curious to who Stings opponent will be for his retirement match. I'll be buying that PPV. Anything else on the PPV will be icing on the cake. Sting is one of my all time favorites so I'm hyped to see it.
You'd think Darby. The old tradition of the retiring star putting over the young guy and all that.

I'm not sure who they would bring in from the past. Flair, Lex, Hogan, and Vader are all retired and in no shape to go. You could say the same for most of the the guys he feuded with in Impact. Most of the ones that can go are otherwise obligated to other promotions. I guess you could use Jarrett or Jeff Hardy? Maybe bring in Scott Steiner and do a Main Event Mafia reunion with Joe? I doubt Nash or Angle would go for it though.

I'm wondering if Muta would do it. Sting was in Muta's "retirement" match. Steamboat could be a possibility. They were a pretty good tag team for a while in WCW.

Muta's "Final Bye Bye" was supposed to be the real end for that character, and I think he meant it. So I doubt he would do it. Maybe Steamboat. Dude is 70 so I doubt it would be a singles match.

My preference would be some configuration of the 4 Horseman. But I don't think there are 4 of them left that can go. Sting is about the last man standing from his Pre TNA career. Even the NWO guys are pretty much retired.

The only guys I can think of that are up to it and available are Steiner, Jarrett, Joe, and Hardy.

I think he should just let Darby do it honestly. Put the young guy over with all those folks from the past in attendance. It's the old school way to go out.

Tony Khan offered Angle a bunch of money, and he turned him down. He wants to stay retired so no go to that. Like you said,Darby is definitely the most logical conclusion. It would be the passing of the torch. I'd say that is what will happen.

On another note, Rampage was the best it has been in a while last night. Fletcher vs. Takeshita was awesome. Should have been on one of the bigger shows. Abadon is back!!!!
Santana and Ortiz had a good one as well. The spot where they were trading open hands looked STIFF.

It looks like Dark Skye vs Willow is next. I find my myself a little dissatisfied with that. I think I wanted Willow to turm more than Skye. Still should be fun.

Takeshita is just awesome.

Up late watching Collision. Shida's Resident Evil look vs Abadon made me smile.

LFI face turn?
They're like LWO. Except they might actually have a future in the promotion they're in.

MJF vs Kenny can have as many matches as they care to IMO.

Again, I think Collision was the better show this week.

I about jumped out of my couch when Rush's music hit haha.

MJF vs. Kenny was a banger. Did not expect a clean win. But that's Kenny putting the young guy over, much like he did with Will Ospreay. I mean, the guy is almost 40, he needs to start passing the torch lol. But man I love watching him work. I wonder if this contract period might be his last. He has had tons of injuries, and time might be starting to catch up with him.

I'm here for LFI and what seems like more focus on the AAA tie in going forward. Maybe Forbidden Door is a Trio of promotions next year?

I doubt Kenny will be done. But I'm sure he'll start scaling back to part time on in ring work. I feel like we've seen less of the Bucks lately too.

I have to wonder what the current situation with MJFs contract is. It sure seems like they are setting up multiple ways to take the belt off him. I think it's also worth noting that Will Ospreay's NJPW contract expires right around the same time.

I don't know. AEW had CMLL guys on Rampage last week. And supposedly they are trying to establish a relationship similar to the relationship with AAA. But it makes it tough because AAA and CMLL literally hate each other and will not work on the same show at all. Ever.

I've just recently become aware of how much bad blood is there. I'm not sure if Rocky counts. Dude really gets around. He's in like 5 promotions off and on. Maybe they can feud him with QT and build a bridge?
