The WRASSLIN’ Thread

I don't buy it. There have always been athletic guys.

No current midcarder would take a spot from Austin, Rock, Foley, HHH, Michaels, Angle, Hart, Undertaker, Kane etc. They were all there at roughly the same time.

This is absolutely true. It’s different types of wrestling too. The showmanship alone of the attitude era stars would keep most of today’s midcarders in NXT

I would agree but you do have to remember that today a guys are heavily scripted and have way less freedom to be their own guy. This is something WWE needs to change. Guys like Finn Balor who hardly gets any mic time was actually pretty damn good on it in NJPW when he had freedom.

WWE needs to start having faith in these guys and just say “here’s a mic, go crazy” and I think you’d be surprised at how some guys would come across.

Not just mic skills, in fact I wasn’t even considering that. I’m just talking about how they worked in the ring. They had moves and style. Now what majes Nakamura so enjoyable is he’s got that same style and it’s fresh.

Oh and NXT was a blast. Can’t stress enough, get to these WWE Live events. Being on TV on RAW is fun but I truly enjoy the non televised events more. Wrestlers are just way more loose and have so much more freedom to say whatever and interact with the crowd.

Velveteen Dream was awesome. Kassius Ohno and Roderick Strong really went above and beyond what they had to and put on an excellent match. Bianca Blair and Ember Moon had a nice little match as well.

Was Peyton Royce or Billie Kay there? I hear Peyton got new chesticles and they've both been absent while she recovers.

Oh I gotcha. I agree 100%.

Two of the wisest moves Vince ever made was to finally just let Stone Cold and The Rock be caricatures of themselves.

Ric Flair
Hollywood Hogan
Ted Dibiase

Thank you. Any best heel ever list that doesn't have Ric Flair on it is an incomplete list. He was the best ever and it's really not close, IMO. I will say, however, that Hollywood Hogan got the most heat.

That turn at Bash at the Beach was epic. I can watch that over and over. the emotion in that crowd was unreal. wcw did a really good job building up to it.

side note: if you have the wwe network and you havent watched the monday night wars then you really need to

The trash being thrown in the ring made it the best heel turn of all time.

I remember constantly thinking it was fake, he was going to double turn. But he never did. Even watching now, it’s still so shocking. I’m old enough (36) I got to enjoy most all of Hulkamania and it was crazy to see Hogan turn.

What has changed between the 90s and now so that trash isn’t thrown? Shocked there wasn’t any trash when Batista or Roman won the rumble matches and such. Are people just more chill or are arenas just way more strict now? Now that I think about it, I can really only remember trash being thrown in WCW and not WWF.

I’m sure security has beefed up significantly for many reasons is the dominant factor, but while Vince ultimately beat Bischoff, I don’t know that anything has come close to the craze NWO started. Having Hogan join was gigantic

Any chance Hardy really will "delete" Wyatt so we get a new Bray character that might actually have a chance to win things?

Or, can Wyatt finally overcome and eventually win something significant?
