They’re Banning FJB and Let’s Go Brandon

Devils advocate here but why do we respect the office of Presidency?

Because the president would never send poor drafted kids into a war?

Because the President would never lie about WMD?

Because the President would never lie about raising taxes?

Because the President would never get a BJ in the Oval Office?

Because the President would never create racial tensions and try to divide?

Because the President would never open fire on a group of college students in Ohio?

Because the President would never arm Bin Laden?

Just curious. As to why this office is considered so holy.

Good question.

They should be banned from kneeling! Respect America!

What do you mean they're banning my vulgar chant? I thought this was America!

This point is very poor. I personally don't care if they kneel, but my employers don't like me making political statements on company time. Chanting something in my free time however I think I'm allowed to do.

I've been around long enough to have seen flashes of inspiration. Reagan could at least act presidential. Nixon actually had some policy moments. Maybe because of my age, Eisenhower seemed to be an actual adult. But either I getting really jaded, or what I expect in leadership at the national level is trending toward zero. I still firmly believe for all his numerous faults, Trump did have some decent thoughts on policy - probably the first since Nixon.

Reagan could publicly kill a grandmother and then tell a joke and the world would laugh. Guy was so quick on his feet and had so much charisma thst he was unstoppable. You simply got out of his way or you were road kill.

Trump was the exact opposite. You just wanted him to shut up. Just shut the F up! No charisma. No social skills.

He had tons of great ideas and I liked most of his policies but he was by far his biggest enemy.

The necks calling for them to be fired for disrespecting the flag aren't their employers

I think the 'necks said they just weren't going to watch football. But then again 'necks are never allowed to be offended, protest, or boycott anything without being labeled 'necks.
No, many called for them to be fired, banned from the league, lose their scholarship, lose endorsements, etc. The irony is the necks are just as fragile as those they ridicule

Been a lifelong democrat so I guess we are even. Identity politics are destroying America and more specifically local communities especially in lower and middle class areas where there is a higher minority population.

Same but when I registered Clinton was in office and I've never voted for dimocrat except for Bredesen as Governor.

Yup.

Been a Republican for my entire life until the past 2 elections. The direction the party has gone is disgraceful and the things his supporters condone is shameful.

I don't like Biden either by the way. He's a terrible POTUS too. But he deserves more of my respect that Trump. It's ridiculous that these are the candidates we have to choose from.
Deserves more of your respect how? Being mentored by actual segregationists? Or the time he said he wanted to punch Trump and take him behind the gym?

There is more regarding Biden that is bad but obviously you have chosen to ignore it. The Biden presidency is also a complete disaster.

It is not the man that we respect but the office. Why the office? because it is the leader of our country. In a sense, it is the representation of all of us who call ourselves Americans. It is because this country is worthy of respect, its founding ideals, what it has accomplished - that we respect the office whereby we as citizens elect someone to lead. While I have little respect for Joe Biden, I have much respect for the office he holds and as such, grant him a small portion of it.

It’s a very thin line that logic walks that requirements compartmentalism.

I can see you view but I can also see the view of someone who feels the President is the office.

Seems like it’s two sides of the same coin.

Many people live vicariously through others, and when "Their guy" is in office its like having Kwanza everyday in their house, except no one but them cares.

No one actually issued public rebukes from their governing bodies. And I dont remember the french recalling an ambassador for a trump tweet.

I recall Theresa May and the British Ambassador to the US saying some very unflattering things about Trump. You guys really have selective memory about Trump's track record.

Yes as to compartmentalization. But its like the particular police officer you may be dealing with could be a dick but I respect the office he holds because it represents our collective attempts at public safety and protection for those who cannot protect themselves. Or a boss who may be a dick but I respect the position he holds as management of my job function and one they have to answer for to their bosses, etc.

Point is, it is not mutually exclusive. I can respect the office but have little respect for the person at the same time. In practice, this means that I am willing to follow as long as they stay within the strict structures of that office they hold. Once they speak or operate outside of that, however, I feel no compunction to comply or, for that matter, show any personal deference to their personal words or behavior. AKA step out from under the umbrella and there is no protection.

Unflattering words is different than a full recall. Not arguing Trump was perfect, I will be the first to point out he wasnt. But this idea that what Biden has caused as far as foreign reactions goes is not as bad as Trump is wrong.
