Sorry, been kind of out of touch lately.@VolInNorthCack
So…..cabin, how’s it going?
That may work to your favor and allow lumber and materials prices to stabilize. How many acres and do we get to see pics of the site?Sorry, been kind of out of touch lately.
Long story short... The company we were working with for months misrepresented some things to us that we didn't find out about until a couple of weeks ago when i was getting ready to put pen to paper. So I basically told them to gtfo.
I think we have settled on a new builder that came highly recommended from a longtime family friend that used to be a builder - He built most of the houses in Bent Creek and Cobbly Nob outside of Gatlinburg), but kind of back to square 1.
The good thing is that I told them the story of what happened with the other company and they said that they have heard some shady things about them in the past. They are optimistic that we can be in the cabin in 12-14 months.
That looks idyllic! That may work to your favor and allow lumber and materials prices to stabilize. How many acres and do we get to see pics of the site?

On Cove Mountain in Wears Valley. Not much to look at right now. It's 3 lots and I believe each lot is .66 acres.

My dad and my grandfather bought 6 lots together back in the early 60's. I think they paid like $3000 for all 6 at the time. We had a cabin up there at one time, but then they sold the cabin and 3 of the lots. I sure wish we still had all 6, but this is enough for me to take care of now as getting older with bad knees and ankles.I love it over there.
We consider property in townsen or wears valley but ultimately it was just too far away for me to build it myself.
Yup. The red women and I are keeping old age requirements in the plan for sure.My dad and my grandfather bought 6 lots together back in the early 60's. We had a floor plan. But now we are deciding between a couple of different styles. This is one we are very fond of and probably leaning toward:Yup. The red women and I are keeping old age requirements in the plan for sure.
Do you have a floor plan yet.
Ours will look similar to this.

If you want the best, try Ben Vaughn of Vaughn Construction. Super nice guy! He has built a lot of cabins in that area. He also flys around the country fixing others debacles. He is not chincy. We had a floor plan. But now we are deciding between a couple of different styles. This is one we are very fond of and probably leaning toward:
